LOL... You do know this is a George Picks vs DK Metcalf thread? Although, I will admit sometime I too am comparing George against the entire Steeler WR room

    Last week:
George Pickens: 7 receptions for 78 yards
DK Metcalf: 5 receptions for 55 yards
Roman Wilson: 4 receptions for 74 yards

It’s a flawed comparison though, Brice. Please tell me you really dont believe Pickens would be putting up those numbers here? He’s seeing as many targets and sometimes even more as a #2 than DK is seeing here.

We play a multi TE ground control game compared to a west coast vertical passing attack in Dallas. It’s apples to oranges.

You are assuming the Steelers would be playing that same style if they still had Pickens. That simply wouldn't make sense.

It is getting more and more difficult to argue that the Steelers weren't better off before they traded away Pickens and Fitzpatrick. They failed to properly replace either player. Fitzpatrick's play had declined, but Thornhill is not an adequate replacement.

They didnt play a wide open attack when he was here. It’s clear what they wanted to play when they hired Smith who was here last year with Pickens.

Steelers are better off without Pickens so I won’t bother explaining it again

    Fitzpatrick

I think we would be running a completely different offense if both DK and George were still here. Aaron has shown he can still throw the ball, so I would expect the Steelers would be attacking down the field with our WRs, not trying to hide behind extra lineman and TEs to first establish the run game.

This would just be bad coaching to not use the talent you have on the team, so you don't have to change your playbook.

    Did you get amnesia :lolol:

It’s the same offense as they were running last year only they are running more outside zone now. It’s what Smith runs and what Tomlin likes, you know he doesnt like high flying offenses.

Y'all really should not bring in DK. Specially with him being locked down so bad today he was only able to get 6 yards.

What type of planet? Today he only got 6 yards. He was locked down big time to not being a factor.

Dude you aren't fooling anybody when you start a thread questioning Metcalf's effort on an interception, or when you keep mentioning him only having two receptions for six yards against the Colts.

Getting hard to make arguments. Baffling they can't get him the ball more. Not worried about the drops much, but they lack of scheme to get him some solid targets is confusing.

They only had one wide receiver last year, too. They also didn't have Rodgers at quarterback then.

Tomlin ran a Tampa 2 defense out of a 4-3 alignment as defensive coordinator in Minnesota. That figured because he had been a defensive backs coach on Dungy's staff in Tampa.

Then he came to Pittsburgh, which had a defense built for a 3-4, zone blitzing scheme. The smartest thing he did was keep LeBeau and adapt, running the style that fit his defense. The result was a Super Bowl in year two.

Good coaches adapt to their personnel. Tomlin has run more wide open offenses in the past when it suited the team's talent. It is silly to argue that he wouldn't do it again if the talent he had dictated it.

It’s silly to ignore the history of the OC they hired too. It silly to pretend that the Steelers could be doing what Dallas is doing and that Pickens would be seeing high levels of targets when he didnt see that many as the # 1 last year. It’s silly to think someone as emotionally stunted as Pickens would handle being demoted to the # 2 WR.
