The Steelers have the oldest defense in the NFL
So taking something positive out of it
They won’t be playing much longer

Mike Tomlin's Butter Cream Curtain at work. He baked up a special batch to play defense against the Packers..

They surely would not dump Watt at this point, but without looking up the numbers I think it would not be Cap damaging to dump Cam, Patrick Queen (think he only has one more year), and Highsmith. Ramsey I think I read does not carry much dead weight if he was released, but I think Ramsey could easily move to either safety spot and be very productive.

On offense, Seumalo is up after this year and should not be re-signed. Rodgers will not be back. Freirmuth is someone who is not used at a level that justifies $12 million per year, so perhaps the team moves on from him.

I would not turn around and just sign a bunch of other veterans though.

I think they need to look at a 2-3 year plan to get back to being a good, competitive team. I can take a couple really poor seasons if the team looks like they have a longer-term plan.

Obviously finding the next franchise QB is paramount too.

Yeah, it sounded like the Packer Fans kind of took over the stadium at the end there. Unless Steeler Fans were chanting... Go Pack Go!!!

It was funny, I commented in the game thread after Muth caught a pass in the 4th QTR and there was just dead silence, that I thought most of the Steeler's fans must have already left the stadium. :)

You are not too early with this comment. I hope the current team turns it around, but I think they are about to lose a bunch of games. The front office needs to start putting a long term strategy in place as soon as the current season ends. I agree all those players should not be on this roster next year. Cam should just make the decision to retire after this year, but most players don't do that on their own, particularly when $$$ are involved.

The problem is that Omar and Tomlin will just replace them with more stopgaps that are super old. Tomlin is afraid to rebuild this roster and is just making it worse.

Steelers need to do what the Penguins are currently doing. They brought in a new capable GM a couple years ago who is focused on long term re-building of team. He saw the team was stale in its coaching and roster construction, and also needs to get younger and faster. He finally decided to make a needed coaching change this past offseason. They are to my surprise playing like a rejuvenated team early this season, playing some very young guys who are hungry, and winning more than I expected. That may not continue, but the team is playing hard, playing disciplined, and is much more fun to watch than what transpired over the previous few seasons.

As it gets colder…Rodgers is gonna struggle more and look even slower given his age…this could get bad. We should have also drafted a replacement for Seumalo…a peck strain is an old man injury.

We have so many castaways from other teams in the secondary….what is the front office doing when it comes to talent acquisition I’m the draft?

We haven’t had a truly great ILB making consistent plays in quite some time.

Would someone like Farrior, who was good in pass coverage, even excel in this defense?

I’m starting to think the scheme is trash.

I would move Ramsey to safety. Bench Slay for Echols or Pierre, and consider moving Beanie Bishop up? Beanie will have his bad moments, but he at least has speed and will defend with some tenacity.

For the love of God, Mike T and his entire coaching staff needs to go. I hope he retires after this season since Art will not fire him. If he is afraid to have that conversation with him, bring me in for a day. I will fire him for him.

It's been like thius since DLB left, we have just been papering over the cracks, now TJ and Cam have lost a step and can't carry the defense anymore it's totally exposed.
