Lockett will be released by the Titans on Wednesday. He would be a HUGE improvement over what we have seen from Roman Wilson and Anthony Miller.

Report: Ex-Seattle Seahawks WR Lockett released by Titans
Former Seattle Seahawks standout Tyler Lockett is reportedly set to be a free agent.

The veteran wide receiver asked for and received his release from the Tennessee Titans, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday. Lockett is expected to be available to sign with a new team by Wednesday, according to Schefter.

No TRADE required on this one; but I am also not sure how the Waiver Wire works on this. Is he free to sign with anyone, or does he have to clear Waivers first?

This was posted in another thread, and the answer is still no we don't need another small WR and he's old.

My questions would be "Why did he leave Tennessee, was it over playing time?" And "Would he be OK with being WR #3 on the depth chart behind DK and a healthy Calvin Austin?"

If this is just a Vet looking for a Winning team, he may be happy getting into the backseat of this offense.

Basically have the same player in Scotty Miller... So no. A move like Lockett, Lazard, MVS, etc. would do nothing for me. None of them push Austin for snaps and realistically I am not sure they are worth putting on the field as WR3 over Skowronek in most situations because of blocking prowess. We should either go for a real WR2 or not go for a WR at all. If they can't comfortably step onto the field as our second best option if DK were to ever get hurt, then I don't want them. I think someone like Ridley or Meyers would be "bottom of the barrel" options for me, with sights set higher. If we don't want to go for someone as good as either of them, then don't trade for a WR at all.

I didn't watch the all 22 but I saw a post from a guy who did and he said Roman was open a lot. Do I think it would have been awesome if we kept GP, yes; do I think our problem is WR2, not at all.

We gotta see some consistency from Wilson. Would love to see it because we drafted him to be a contributor and it sucks to see him riding pine with the investment into him.

I do think WR2 is an issue though. We haven't seen it yet because our WR1 hasn't had to miss any games. I'm not sure this offense would have a WR to throw to if DK missed time. I don't think we need studs at WR1, WR2, AND WR3... but having someone that can fill the role as a WR1 in a pinch would be nice. An Austin level player or better with a different playstyle/body type would be very welcome. If we had a Bowers/Warren/Gronk type player at the TE position, then I think we could stomach our WR situation but we don't. We have a nice set of TE's, but none of them are receiving game changers.

He wasn't being featured much in a bad offense with a rookie QB, he doesn't offer much over what we already have.

How can Wilson develop consistency when he is hardly targeted? He's mostly being used as a decoy in the offense to create more one on ones with the TEs.

They don't need a big name WR2 he wouldn't get enough targets in Arthur Smith offense.

I kinda hate that narrative. I don't care if they get massive targets or not, it is more preferable to have a good player instead of a bad one.... Its all well and good to have one and a half capable WR's until there's an injury. What do we do if DK misses a couple games? Do we think Austin/Wilson are going to get the ball? No. If DK misses 3 games, I'm not sure our WR's would get 10 catches during those games. We are too dependent on one quality WR. Austin is okay, but he isn't good enough to step into the WR1 role for a couple games. We don't have anyone good enough to step into the WR2 role for any amount of time.

Just because we wont target our WR2 10 times a game doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to get a good WR2.

Not at all. He was a really good player. Available evidence stresses the “was” and not “is.”

stop wanting another all-star WR. IF you get another 1 our WR 1 will get mad from not getting the catches .We are putting up lots of points right now. If DK gets hurt then get another WR.we have more trouble with this def.not stopping anyone Joey grabby is starting to be a bust.get a all-star-CB

What is the issue with Roman Wilson? Did he date the coach's daughter or something?

He is 4/5 on the year for catches for a whopping 36 yards. That I have seen, he has not screwed stuff up on the field. Why is he not in play more? We (and I count myself in that crowd) are hollering for a WR2. Why is RW not stepping up into the roll (or at least being more involved)? Is it because he is only 5'10"? He was drafted in the 3rd round at #84. I would expect that we should see a lot more from him, especially after he got a full year to sit on the edge and watch/learn.

Maybe. I hate to say no to any possible upgrade. Lockett's targets dropped in half last season in Seattle. Was that him or the new coach, QB, system??? This season he has not been targeted much with his new team and new QB again. That's unknown for me.

On the plus side for Lockett, he is a veteran that has worked well with DK in the past. He's versatile and can play inside or wide out.

If you draft a WR2 fine but giving up high draft picks and having to pay a big contract doesn't make much sense in this TE heavy offense.

I don't care how we do it. We're about to be in rookie contract QB land.... we can afford the WR if we wanted. However, drafting one would be ideal. The only problem is that there's no guarantee that the pick works out. Trading a pick for a player that is already good is safer. I feel you in regards to drafting one, but it would be devastating to draft another Chase Claypool or James Washington. Though if we get a JuJu or Pickens, then we are more than happy with that outcome.

I would still much rather trade for Breece Hall.
