Will the Steeler D rebound and look decent this week?

I have no idea. I have severe cognitive dissonance over this. My brain says they won't, but my experience tells me that they will magically look good again. If this was week 11, I would lean towards us continuing to look clueless, but Tomlin is good at rebuilding false hope up until about week 10, when all the other teams have dialed things in.

The Packers are the current #1 seed in the NFC, their only loss was to Flacco when he was a Brown. Other than their beat down of the Lions they haven't looked great but they are finding ways to win.

I will be surprised if the Steelers don't win the game having a few extra days off should benefit them, Rodgers should be motivated to beat his former team and they're at home in Prime Time.

Was Minkah that Good? Was he the glue that held this Defense together???

Another Super Star player that Khan traded away. Did we get back enough in return to justify how bad the middle of the field looks without Minkah?

They're going to be Jekyll and Hyde as long as Tomlin is running the squad. We go as far as our stars will take us. I would bet on Ramsey having a bounce back game, but it really depends on whether or not the pass rush can get after them. If Herbig and Watt cause problems and the DL gets some push, the D will look fine. If they don't we could get dog walked again. I just hope the offense is up to protecting the ball a bit better and keeping that run game going.

It really feels like on a week to week basis we could cause 3-4 turnovers, get a ton of sacks, and pressure out the opposition OR we could be the worst defense in the league letting the best WR in the league run free with no one guarding him, letting the leagues worst run game rack up 150 etc.... its the standard.

I think prime Minkah was good. The version we got the last two years was not good at all. He was actually quite a problem for our defense.

This defense doesn't get burned because a slowed down version of Minkah got sent packing. We got burned because we game plan like morons and have a wild amount of communication issues for a defense that we spend a lot of money on. Our scheme isn't very difficult, but it never really seems like our guys are in the right spots. There's always someone that thinks someone else should have been doing something that they didn't. It happened a lot with Minkah too.

No. Minkah was there when we sucked ass at the end of last season. He was invisible.

Yes but he had to physically beat himself up because no one else was consistent with play making.

It is a bit disconcerting that our D is ranked so low after going against bad offenses

Yeah, they need to beat the Packers because they play the Colts in the next game.

I thought there be a poll with the question. Would have like to see what members thought.

I'm thinking Love gonna play his ass off to beat a guy he sat behind for 3-4 years. Then again the old guy would love to beat his old team. Hope our D better then their D.

    I think so.

I don't think we'll be world beating, but do think we'll look "competent / decent".

We suck (below average) on short weeks (last week).

But I think we're also above average when we have more rest days to prepare than the opposition.

They did not use Herbig enough against Cinci based on what I saw. Bengals being a pass heavy team and Herbig only got 29 snaps . The Steelers inability to stop the run in previous games may be why Tomlin limited Herbig.

Rodgers motivation can't help the defense (other than not throwing 2 picks )...hopefully the defense is motivated to help Rodgers best his former team.

The Packers haven't won a game in Pittsburgh in the last 55 years. The last Green Bay QB to win here was Bart Starr in 1970.

    It is at home.
Sometimes a smack in the face wakes one up. Maybe it happens.
But Green Bay is tough and they have Parsons and I don't want to see him hitting Rogers.
Love definitely can shred our pass defense if it plays as it did.
And most definitely, they have a ground game.
They are also very well coached.

    It's a very tall order.
