Not only did he win a SB, He may have had the best post season I can ever remember from a Qb that year.

How about defending against the slant?
At least once, Chase just caught another slant.
Isn’t this the job of coaches to come up with a scheme?
Your response, they played man coverage and zone, didnt work.
Try something else. Coaches get paid millions, apparently they are not held responsible according to a few of the posters on here
Or, it was just one of them games that no matter what we did, we couldn’t stop them. Just left a bad taste in my mouth.
Hopefully, we rebound against the Pack.
    Go Steelers!

Plus we got some old legs in the secondary. We all knew this before season started.
Grant you, we did good until 4 qtr against the Vikes and their dynamic wr duo.
Chase and Higgins showed out. Give credit to Bengals getting their run game going early in the game.
    Made a big difference

let's not get all lovey Dovey on the Bengals now. No now we need to figure out how to stop them. Cover those WR. Never can both get it together it's just unbelievable--- our off. played great --why couldn't our def. just figure it out. Well now its Green Bay.

The run defense was the most disappointing part of the game. That should have been an easy shutdown but Benton was awful from the start. And the LB playing too close in the box made them easy targets for OL blocking.

When an aging Flacco has a monster game against us, it shows how bad our defense is.

    same old story

The pass rush didn't help the secondary at all.

My point is fans say they made no adjustments they did they just weren't effective, maybe they could've tried press man coverage but I'm not sure that would be effective with older guys like Slay and Ramsey.

I personally would have changed up the pass rush with more blitzes instead of trying random coverages. At a minimum, hit Flacco a few times.

And that is the most disturbing part of the whole mess. When nothing works it means the players are just not good enough against that offense.

But Flacco was getting rid of the ball so quick I don't think those blitzes would get there in time.

Maybe. Never know until you try. What they were doing wasn't working, so anything else would have been worth a shot.

Also, they could have crowded the line and then drop off, etc. Bring two blitzers right up the middle - they can get there in less than 2.77 seconds if one goes somewhat free.

Too worried about the run game.
Early success with the run definitely helped Bengals pass game and slowed down our DL pressure.
