I have no ill will to Matt Canada

But I find it interesting that a guy who has had 17 coaching positions in his career now can not find a job after being fired two years ago

 

When did his contract with us end?

I think coach's contracts are guaranteed. So he'd still be getting paid from the Steelers until his contract was up (as long as he didn't pick up another job).

He's clearly got more than enough to live on. If I got paid that much for not working for a year, I think it would be hard to go back to the grind. And it sounds like coaching really is a grind.

 

I understand he preferred sitting up in the booth rather than be on the sideline.

maybe he'd be a good game analyst. Might be better than a few of the guys doing it now

After the social media thrashing it might take him awhile before he decides to get back into it, if at all.

Matt Canada (probably): Sometimes teams put guys in motion before the snap. I'm not sure why. But I did it sometimes too.

For some reason, I thought it was last year too.

So he only got the free paycheck for a couple weeks.

 

Arthur Smith is the best OC since Haley. Obviously. I hope he stays with Steelers, and helps develop the inevitable 2026 first round QB draft pick or Will Howard. HCs are gonna be dropping like flies, so he may get another opportunity to be HC, if he even wants to.

 

Big difference in the paycheck

 

There are rumors already that he's being looked at for the Titans HC position. He may want to go back to Tennessee, but I wonder if he would want to go to that organization right now.
