I know a couple of people have mentioned Slow Horses before. My brother told me it's one of the best shows he's ever watched. My wife and I started it last night and got 2 episodes in so far. Pretty good so far, but she isn't quite sold on it yet.

I really dig British crime and detective series (lots of PBS stuff) and watched tons in my past life. I started Slow Horses a few years back but my Lady is not a fan of these type shows so we stopped watching. It's ironic that Gary Oldman, who I think is an incredible actor, finally got the Oscar for playing the somewhat subdued cerebral Churchill in Darkest Hour after all his dramatic over the top roles earlier in his career. I'll have to take everyone's word for Slow Horses being good.

That Darkest Hour was pretty good, but I don't think it was his best role. This is why I hate, and will not watch award shows.

I want to say it’s Knight of the Dragon, but can’t remember. I know it’s knight something or other.

/edit I got three words of the title correct. Knight of the seven kingdoms

Based on the Dunk and Egg short stories.

Dunk = Ser Duncan the Tall
Egg = Aegon IV Targaryan (or Aegon the Unlikely)

Set about 100 years before GoT but has some direct links. "Egg" eventually becomes King (he was SOOO far down the line of succession that he got the nickname "The Unlikely" because the odds of his ever becoming king were astronomical. It took a long series of bizarre, and tragic events for that to happen). One of the reasons the crown eventually falls to him is because his cousin (and best childhood friend) turns down the crown... twice. That being Aemon Targaryan (our Maester Aemon at the wall). If you recall, in his dying moments and in his delerium, his last words were "Egg! Egg! I dreamt I was old." But in the Dunk and Egg stories, Egg is a small child.

Ser Duncan the Tall gets his nickname because of his ridiculous height (over 7 feet). But his becoming a "knight" sort of mimics the movie "A Knight's Tale." I'll let the story tell you more. Egg becomes his squire and the stories follow their travels throughout Westeros and sheds light on some situations, events etc. on even "modern" times. When Egg becomes king, Dunk becomes Lord Commander of the King's Guard.

Old Nan to Bran while he's recovering from his fall in his bed: "Would you like a story? I could tell you a story about Ser Duncan the Tall. Those were always your favorites."

Through hints in both the short stories, and even the ASOIAF books, it's been theorized by many that Dunk may be the Grandfather/Great Grandfather of both Hodor and Brienne of Tarth.

I'll avoid giving out any details of plots. Both to avoid spoilers, and because if House of Dragons is any indicator, I'm not very optimistic that they won't butcher it.

Ok, then I know exactly what it's from.
Now how well will they stick to them.
Also will he be like Clive Barker, and never finish the other books.

I read the GoT series a couple years before the series on HBO. I thought it would be cool to watch that while waiting on the next book. I was wrong. I disliked the tv series so much, and now it's been too long for another book for me. I'm done with that whole thing now.

I've read the A Song of Ice, and Fire about 6 times, 3 times, except for the Dance with Dragons before the show was even out, and I have read all the prequels, and shorts that go along with it all, and I desperately want him to finish the story, because I know the show did many things wrong, and couldn't end exactly the same way.
Although I've been waiting on Clive Barkers to finish his trilogy since 1994, so this maybe the same crap here.
