Here's an article about Reggie Dunn. How good was he as a WR? Because everyone keeps saying that his only game is as a return specialist but surely they could use him at WR for some creative packages. Then again, in todays game, so many of the kickoffs sail out of the endzone, not sure how many tries would he even get, might not be worth it to bump one of the other WR's off to make room for him. His speed is crazy though, would be interesting to see what kind of havoc he could cause.

Returning punts is a different skill set than returning kickoffs sometimes. But if he's even half as effective there, it would still be a boost to our STs.

I say just get the guy in space and we will quickly be familiarizing our opponents with the back of his jersey. I would LOVE to have an electrifying game breaker type dude. I've always thought it would be cool to have a Devin Hester type return man.

I agree BUT talking about return men is, for me, the same as talking about our running backs. Just as our RBs won't be able to do much if we have constantly revolving, injury-laden offensive line, so our return guys won't be able to do much is we keep getting flagged on every single big return. I'm hoping some of the other guys we've picked up will be able to contribute to a much slicker and organised return game. And I also hope Dunn is a part of that, because his highlight reel is pretty spectacular.

I totally agree. As a matter of fact, the first time someone put up a thread about the guy showing his highlights I actually said "notice how there were no flags? wouldn't that be nice if that happened here?" So we're totally in agreement on that.

Any player in the Tomlin system will only have the potential to be as productive as the system and coaching staff allows. We have see that Tomlin and staff have not utilized players very well.

Looks like he is very good, but due to size a luxury item since he can only be return man. Hopefully if he gets a chance you wont see the norm from recent past of a flag coming out on every Steelers return.

I don't know.... I feel like we have seen this before with Stefan Logan.

He probably won't have an impact as a WR, therefore he most likely will be cut.

gilreath was a good returner in college too. he can be used as a receiver, but it's a numbers game now. it's a matter of keeping some guys for next year, and them having an expanded role then possibly. i say this because of all the 1 year contracts that will be ending after this season at many spots. our PS could be full of future players for next year, because we will still not have much money.

The comparisons are inevitable. As I've said before, the issue with Logan was that we never used him in any other role. His returns were good. Well - compared to, say, Carey Davis.

but if you remember the trouble soon began when the other team held him up while the rest of the team took the ball off of him.

LSH,gilreath, brown, wheaton, woods, dunn all could be considered. heck i wouldn't rule AB out yet. he's a 1,000-1,000 guy. that's alot of yards to take off the field.

Agreed - AB can still tear it up, and keeping him on some return duties is hardly going to blunt his skills.

Tomlin doesn't like using his starters for returns if he can avoid it. I don't blame him. And while we have several guy capable of returning kicks, none are as electric as Dunn. Teach this kid some routes or heck, throw him on the field now and then to stretch the field, even if it's just a decoy.

The guy I want to see take a starting job and run with it is Mike Golic Jr. Just like to see him as the opposite of his dad. Defense offence Drafted to un-drafted. Just one I'd like to see, OH See in route to a Superbowl win would be even better.

yea but they went back to using holmes before. AB is quite talented at it. infact, the first guy to do the 1,000/1,000. we can use all the help we can get this year to manufacture points. guys with AB's skills don't come along often.

most likely Tomlin will use AB as a returner, just only in key spot moments and sharing return duties with someone else.

This is what I figured. Same as they did with Holmes, as I recall.

Wait a minute, alot of you people are always on AB for not scoring TD's as a WR, that we overpaid
him for his talents? I am confused, why don't we let AB concentrate on his WR duties, also it
might cut down on injuries to him. AB is the most talented of the young money crew and if he
gets injured returning punts, the Steelers are up the proverbial creek without a a paddle.

I don't care how he gets the TDs, as long as he gets 'em. I see Brown less as a WR or a PR or a KR etc., but more just a clutch player. Again, similar to Holmes. So when the game's on the line, I want him with the ball, regardless of if its on offense of special teams.

You don't risk your #1 WR on ST when there are other options, not necessary.

I think we continued to use Holmes some on returns because we didn't feel comfortable with our other options. If we can find our return guy (Dunn has impressed the heck out of me) then I don't see them risking putting AB out there any longer. I'm pretty sure that's the goal. I can't imagine now that AB is our #1 WR that we want him anywhere near ST's.

he's first got to prove he can be the #1 receiver. not just assume he is because he makes more money. is he moving to the wallace role or is sanders? i'm not sure this has been determined yet? over a thousand yards of production is hard to sit on the bench. especially if we are having trouble scoring points.
