Ryan Clark said a number of Steelers, like Hines and Peezy, took a discount for the Rooney's. I think Clark makes some good points, but what do you think?

Was Hines or others underpaid during their time with the Steelers?

Do I think he could have made more money else where absolutely. Hines was a steeler guy and our best wr of all time. He did it all and was happy to do whatever was asked of him. Could you imagine him as a FS he would probably been thrown out of the league. Ben is a steeler guy as well and I promise you he is going to give the Steelers a discount this time around.

As others have said Hines said he was taken care of/etc....and if he's happy thats all that matters.

However I think all these athletes are vastly overpaid...but thats a whole other discussion, hahaha.

Oh...thanks, well he said it on ESPN's First Take. I think Clark is doing a good job at ESPN this week, he has a good broadcasting career ahead of him.

I think Hines got underpaid for his talent level. If he would have been on the Rams when Warner was there Hines Stats would have been best in the league and would have warranted bigger contracts....

Not trying to start an argument but you could also say that if he was with a team with a horrible QB, his stats would have been worse and he wouldn't have made as much money as he did with the Steelers.

The Steelers are always near the cap or in some cases over the cap, they pay their CORE superstars market price,
but have also been fair to all their players. This is why we have always had locker room harmony, because
the past players understood this. I am not so sure that the new players understand this and what is required to play for the
greatest franchise on the planet. Hence the locker room discord and attitude coming out of the Steeler locker room?
To Coach T, don't let the inmates run the asylum.

Both sides signed the contract. Apparently both sides thought it was fair.

I remember reading something about the Steelers buying Bradshaw a ranch in Montana and a bunch of Clydesdales. Maybe they did something like thatfor ward.

I think the people are missing Clarks point, he's 100% correct. Porter, Hines, Troy all have gone against the grain of wanting to one up everyone. They could have totally tested the market and made more money but they weren't interested in that, they were interested in staying in Pittsburgh, staying where they are comfortable and playing for a great organization. There aren't a lot of players like that anymore, they are like Wallace, get every penny I can.
