This article summarizes a variety of Pickens issues as quoted from different sources -

    https://steelersnow.com/ex-nfl-wr-reveals-why-steelers-had-enough-of-george-pickens/

As far as the significant fines go, I saw that written a few other places at the time of those incidents. It was 2023 when he was fined so much that it almost took his entire annual salary.

You can’t make that much of a nuisance of yourself and then wonder why you got traded.

From a coaching perspective, you can’t allow those issues to go unchecked, you will just lose the locker room otherwise.

And if we kept pickens we would be looking at 4-0 possibly.

In fact, we wouldn't be worrying about how much time Calvin Austin is going to miss.

I blame the media for being the media.

there's not a beat writer I like in the entire league. Honestly, I'm shocked some of them know how to spell football.

Yep, another week where Pickens outplayed Metcalf. Metcalf is such trash.

Oh sh!t, I forgot to make it green for the dummies that don't get sarcasm.

I am not an MT supporter, but no coach should have to babysit
players and grown men the way MT had thruout his career. I would rather lose
than have cancerous individuals on my team. And George Pickens is one of them.

To bad he was such a cancer here and had to go

I guess getting b!tch slapped by the Steelers may have caused him to wake up

Pickens doesn’t have a TD each game this season, he didn’t score the first week.

Pickens also wouldnt be getting 9-11 targets here and there lies the rub. He’d be getting 2 or 3 targets and maybe 2 TDs so far and bitching and moaning about it.

He also never would have coexisted with Rodgers. Think Rodgers chewing out Pickens would have gone over like it did when he chewed Austin out? He holds receivers accountable, that tandem never would have worked.

For Pickens to have remained here, he would have had to be the # 1 and with a good QB in a pass heavy attack or he wouldnt have been happy.

They were never going to sign a guy like him to a long term deal, might as well get something for him now like they did.

It sounds like his teammates didn't like him and wanted him gone.

But they need that third round pick next year for when they trade up for a QB.

There is no guarantee they get a 3rd for him.

We also got a disruptive cancer off the team. It’s one thing if you are producing like AB but Pickens wouldn’t be putting up those kind of numbers here to put up with his bs.

hmm.. we have no idea how Pickens would respond to a HOFer like Rodgers chewing him out. Thing is.. guys like AR know how to chew a WR out AND get the best out of him because he is going to throw you open and knows a 50/50 ball has a 90% chance of being caught by his WR.

Dak has the most passing yards in the NFL. When you throw the ball to your WR's at a high clip they tend to not ***** and moan as often.

All they want is the ball.

Pickens has something like 37 targets this year, DK around 22. How many targets do you think Pickens would have as the number two here? Our offense isnt remotely like Dallas.

They all want the ball and Pickens causes problems when he doesnt get it and he wouldnt have been getting it a lot.

If someone wants to make the argument they should have just kept Pickens and made him #1 and not bring in DK, that would be different but once they signed DK, Pickens fate was sealed. Still dont think he would have meshed with Rodgers but it’s a better argument than thinking it could have worked with him as the number two seeing little passes coming his way.
