Week One Recap

Keeper League

• @Ray D charged out of the gates, posting team high score for the week, as well as being awarded Best Manager for capturing 98% of the max points possible by his starters. Finally, his team was awarded most over projection. Not sure if Ray benched his starters or not for the preseason, but whichever way he went seemed to pay off.
• @Blast Furnace , @TerribleTowelFlying , and @blackandgoldpatrol were right on Ray's heels in points, and along with @Javvy and @soulkitchen also took home Ws in their openers.
• @Javvy took it to @gumbygolf 's group, who just plain had a rough week - Joey B only getting 8.5 points? That's not gonna happen too often.

Standard League

• @blackandgoldpatrol rode Derrick Henry to a win and the league-high score in the best way possible: the Ravens still lost.
• @Blast Furnace notched best manager of the week for a starting lineup that got 91% of the best possible group he could start. That said, @Nathan Thompson gave him a run right up to the end.
• @SteelersFanIrl posted the largest margin of victory, and along with @bignasty92 , @Tarasovic , and @Tweezer entered the win column for Week 1.

Superflex League

• @blackandgoldpatrol defeated my team, and to rub it in did so while keeping a better scoring defense and kicker on the bench.
• @Javvy and Caleb Williams fell just short of catching Tweezer's group, two points!
• @Ray D was back - top team points and overachiever again!
• Kudos as well to @SteelersFanIrl and @thorn058 for also taking home opening week wins.

 

All 3 of my teams won, but all 3 left points on the bench

 

So that's your secret.

 

Week 2 Recap

Keeper League

• I'd like to take more credit for a W, but @Javvy got stiffed by his group, who appeared not to get off the plane.
• @Lizard72 crushed it - 183 points is the high-water mark for the year so far.
• Despite Dallas' defense taking the week off, @SteelersFanIrl managed to crack @Ray D 's nuts this week, handing him his first loss of the season.
• Solid performance across the board for @blackandgoldpatrol (letting Andrews off the hook), as he held off @SC Gamecock to go 2-0.
• @gumbygolf pivoted from Joey B to the sun god to vanquish @Blast Furnace .

Standard League

• @Steel_Elvis pulled out the smallest margin of the year thus far, edging Blast's crew by under a point - Baker falling just short Monday night.
• @Tweezer riding the Chase Express to a 2-0 start.
• Couldn't tell for sure, but it looked like @bnasty23 squandered Nabers going off, with a couple of positions taking a N/A.
• Losing Fields early was tough on IRL as Mashburn pulled it out the W
• Have Aubrey and Cook, will travel - @Steelcitian cruises to 1-1.
• Have Goff and Taylor, will travel further - @blackandgoldpatrol with an impressive 163 points and a 2-0 start.

Superflex League

• I got Goffed as well - @Nathan Thompson stuck it to us. 0-2 now
• @TerribleTowelFlying throwing 208 up on scoreboard - Nabers and Williams doing some damage.
• Tweezer getting just enough from Collins to overcome Dallas' D and win a squeaker.
• @Thorn now 2-0, and Gumby gets back to even on the year.

Injuries starting to crop up now, especially with QBs. Bit of a strange start for some of the high rollers in other positions, IMO. Maybe I'm just saying that because I'm 1-4 thus far.

 

I watched some of that game. Thought of a play near the end when I saw that score - Baker took off on a 3rd or 4th and long, got the first, tried to juke a defender but got upended, practically did a flip in midair.

If only he'd fallen one yard further.

 

Not off to too good of a start. First week a win and a cliffhanger to be 1-1. Second week I got mud stomped in both games. With all the high scoring around the NFL, you'ld think I would have fared better, but nooo, I get the guys who were content to let everyone else players do the scoring.

Oh well, there's always next week!

 

Week 3 Recap

Keeper League

• @SC Gamecock's crew broke out of their funk - top score for the week behind a Viking defense that put up 40 (!) to help make up for a soft outing by Jordan Love - and a strong day by Taylor for @mytake
• Apparently the next time your backup to Brock Bowers is going up against the Steelers, you bench Bowers.
• I was big on RJ Harvey heading into the draft, but (along with several others) he hasn't taken off yet. Eric Engram was supposed to have a strong role as the Joker in Peyton's scheme - yeah, not so much.
• Lamar and McCaffery just about led @blackandgoldpatrol over @TerribleTowelFlying , but in the end going with Fanin over Andrews cost him
• Days like Montgomery had for @soulkitchen make me wonder why the Steelers can't find something approaching a Gibbs/Monty backfield
• And there's Gibbs with 27 for @SteelersFanIrl
• Rough day for Browning and Kamara cost @gumbygolf in our matchup. Hoping Mason can help carry things in my backfield the next few weeks.

Superflex League

• Thought my day was done against @thorn058 when Connor went down, but Skattebo and Vikings D save the day
• Puca and Geno splashed for @gumbygolf , while Chase was neutralized without Joey B for @Ray D
• Irl knocked on the door of 200 and fell just short, but big win over @TuRnDoWnForWaTT
• Benching Mark Andrews stings @blackandgoldpatrol again, though he would've needed a little more to catch @Nathan Thompson and crew
• @Tweezer also knocking on the 200 door. Just short, but took it to @TerribleTowelFlying
• And @Javvy rode Caleb, Kyren, and Taylor to a close win over @Steelcitian

Standard League

• Close affair, but Blast pulls out the win on Tweezer with the help of the Vikings monster week on D
• Tale of two teams - @Steel_Elvis 's crew had a solid week across the board, taking down Nathan's crew, who did not.
• Irl experienced how hard it is to win when CeeDee goes down to injury early and he was faced off against Puka from @bignasty92
• A win's a win - @Mashburn took down @b23nasty without the services of Jayden Daniels
• @Tarasovic , who did start Andrews, was able to topple steelcitian minus Juan Jennings
• Felt like a mid-90s battle for B&G Patrol, taking down @Lizard72 behind Henry and Taylor in the stable

I had hope when Henry rumbled for 33 and the TD early on Monday but watched it slip away.

 

Thielen putting up a goose egg and Minnesota's defense abusing Jake Browning spelled the difference in that affair.

 

Figures the moment I bench Andrews he would blow up

 

Figures I get one wr back from injury lose another for the season to injury. One running back has a great day the other can't get going. Im constantly surprised I'm 3 and 1.

 

Weekly Recap

Well, the injuries keep piling up. That, and it's been a strange year thus far, IMO. Guys aren't producing in the ways some thought they would.

This week got away from me, but I did find a rather cheeky, possibly drunk, Chat GPT to assist in the weekly reviews.


Keeper League

Week 4: The carnage continues!

• Thor's Autumn Thunder dropped the hammer with 204.89 points, making SteelersFanIRL look like they brought a Terrible Towel to a lightning fight. Bo Nix and Puka Nacua outscored entire rosters; someone check for performance-enhancing mead.

• SC Gamecock put Lizard72 on the endangered species list, 160.98 to 91.91. De'Von Achane ran wild while Lizard's Ja’Marr Chase disappeared faster than Baker Mayfield’s credibility.

• RayDsNuts slapped some sense into TerriblesTowels (149.05–119.96). Mahomes did Mahomes things while TerriblesTowels’ Saquon and Allen looked more like a comedy duo than an offense.

• Blast Furnace melted Soulkitchen (136.02–112.47). Bijan and Maye cooked up a win, while Soulkitchen’s Montgomery and DJ Moore served a cold dish called “mediocrity.”

• Gumby's Gladiators flexed just enough to edge Blackandgoldpatrol (128.23–102.73). Kamara and Amon-Ra partied while Lamar and CMC apparently missed the invite.

• mytake barely survived StiffsRUs (127.88–122.10). Ashton Jeanty’s 40.25 was the difference, while Derrick Henry’s 7.8 had StiffsRUs looking for a refund.

• Four teams at 2-2, but only one can claim first: Thunder. Everyone else, try unplugging and plugging your teams back in.

Superflex League

Week 4 Recap: Where Dreams Go to Die (Unless You’re Tweezer2001)

• Tweezer2001 (4-0) stays undefeated, flexing harder than a gym bro on pre-workout. Lamar, Achane, and Walker ran wild while Hammerd Anvil Pub & Grill (1-3) got hammered, anvil’d, and grilled. Maybe rename to Hammered Hopes?

• SteelersFanIRL (3-1) racked up 195 behind Hurts and a Mason/Omarion backfield that confused defenses—and fantasy managers. TerriblesTowels (2-2) lived up to their name, with Jordan Love’s 34 wasted on a supporting cast that looked like they’d rather be towel boys.

• Gumbygolf (3-1) dropped 197.85, with Stroud, Nacua, and Pickens going full cheat code. Bnat36 (0-4) is still searching for a win and might need divine intervention—or at least a new RB2.

• Thorn's Firebirds (3-1) soared past RayDsNuts (2-2) behind Baker’s redemption arc and CMC’s usual dominance. RayDsNuts? More like RayDsDuds this week.

• Blackandgoldpatrol (2-2) unleashed the Josh Attack (Allen & Jacobs) and let DK cook. StiffsRUs (1-3) lived up to the name—Caleb Williams needs a rescue party.

• TD4Watt90 (1-3) finally wakes up thanks to Jeanty’s 40-burger. MrTitanium (2-2) looked more like Mr. Tin Foil.

• Four weeks in, pretenders are separating from contenders. If you’re 0-4, time to start prepping those “it

Standard League

• Blast Furnace lit up BigNasty9 like a dumpster fire at a tailgate, dropping 157.36 and flexing Christian McCaffrey’s quads all over Ashton Jeanty’s 41.05. BigNasty9, you got Kamara back but still got Kamara’d off the field.

• Tarasovic outlasted SteelElvis in a Mahomes vs. Daniel Jones mismatch so lopsided, the mercy rule almost kicked in. Bijan and Breece ran wild, while SteelElvis got left with a box of Jacobs and a bag of Pearsall.

• MrTitanium finally found some polish, unleashing Bo Nix and Bucky Irving to bulldoze steelermashburn. Drake Maye and Saquon showed up, but Tyreek must’ve been running wind sprints in the parking lot.

• Tweezer2001 squeaked by Lizard72 in a pillow fight for the ages. Lizard, you left more points on the bench than the Bears leave fans in the stands. Zeroes from Jaylen Warren and Ray Davis—are you tanking for Caleb?

• Blackandgoldpatrol continued its undefeated march, handling B23nasty so easily Goff could’ve taken the fourth quarter off. B23nasty, your team’s allergic to touchdowns—maybe try Benadryl?

• Bnat36 cooked up a 161.95 burger on SteelersFanIRL, with Hurts, Achane, and Etienne running wild. SteelersFanIRL, your squad’s got more holes than Swiss cheese.

• Four weeks in: Blackandgoldpatrol is the league’s final undefeated, and the rest of you are playing for second.
