Washington absolutely stoned some of the ends he had to block.

We drafted him because he was a big part of the Michigan offense that won the Natty.

What we didn’t know is Michigan was doing a ton of cheating that may have made some players look better than they were.

Hopefully Wilson pans out. Its still early and he was basically red shirted his first year.

I think Minny is the best defense we played so far this year and for us to have this much success on the ground tells me Washington made a huge difference.

I was a huge fan when we drafted Muth but his extension made no sense.

Yeah, but I don't buy that that's what elevated Wilson. Tomlin put him up against Quinyon Mitchell at the Senior Bowl and he fared well.

I believe we'll see him, give it time. I believe we are still in that what are we mode that every team goes through early in the season.

I used to post somewhere else. That place died. I used to ask this question there and rarely (if ever) got a good answer to it. So I will ask you fine folks:

What does Pat Friermuth do well? He typically has really reliable hands. Other than that? He can barely function as an in line blocker. He is average out in space as a detached blocker. He runs average routes. He is not an elite athlete for the position. Basically...how is anything besides just a guy at the position?

You’re probably not going to get a good answer here either. He’s an average receiving TE, and that would be OK if he were a solid blocker. However, his blocking is only on par with a smaller “move” TE like an Evan Engram, and he’s not enough of a receiving threat to justify playing 40 snaps per game with that kind of blocking liability. The killer is that he seemed better as a blocker earlier in his career (to me at least). He needed work, but seemed to be progressing. Now? pffft.

    Unfortunately Thorn

The only thing else is his name.

    It allows fans to yell
    MUUUUUUUUTH! very rarely nowadays

Try that with any other TE on the roster.

moooouuunnnttt. joneuuuuuuuu. see it could work.

as for thorn's question. i agree with him and was against giving him that kind of money for the production. i like muth and he was supposed to be so reliable in the red zone when we got him but when you have to bring in other to do half of his job there is a problem and i think they are finally starting to see that. remember we had also brought in parham that got hurt. maybe this gives him the kick in the butt he needs to work harder on his body and his game. IDK.

When he came into the league he was touted as a red zone wizard, never dropping a pass there. I believe his rookie year he had a phenomenal TD against the stains. He's been mediocre at best in my eyes, and does nothing well.

My bias is also based on the fact I wanted Creed Humphrey with that pick.

I think Muth better rededicate himself to his craft before it is too late. Very average TE
making way too much for his production. I screamed when Steelers gave him extension.
    Poor choice.

Taking him over Humphrey was a huge mistake. That's not hindsight. I also wanted Humphrey with that pick. So did others on this board. Freiermuth has been a mediocre player and he doesn't seem to fit well in the current offense. Humphrey is an All-Pro and he played that level from day one. He was dominating inside for three years while the Steelers deal with center play that ranged from below average to horrible. I think they finally got their guy with Frazier, but he isn't at Humphrey's level.

See , and I actually believe he is getting better as a blocker, and worse as a receiving TE.
He seems to run through zones, and then wants to sit down in man. LoL
