I was checking out some of our UDFA's and came across Guard Nik Embernate.

Not a lot on him but some of the comments I read are interesting. Apparently he caught the attention of coaches and scouts when they were there to look at tape of Ansah and saw Embernate manhandling him.Other comments is he is very mobile and nasty, hence his nickname Embernasty and finishes his blocks even if it's 20 yards off the play. Sounds promising, going to see what else I can dig up on him.

    Anyone familiar with this guy?

*edit* title is supposed to say lucky, this has nothing to do with Andrew Luck :lolol:

I hope we found a diamond in the rough with him.

they brought him in for a visit pre draft. go watch some film on him , he's a good guard. you will see why they like him.

we did well with these UDFA's. a couple of good wr's. several good O-linemen. mcneal finished his college career with a couple of 160+ yard rushing games. baxter,hagans,arnsfelt,rashad-white, are all good players. definately some depth talent in this pool.

go watch arnfelt from northwestern if you get a chance. 6-5 306 38 reps 4.86 40 plus quickness numbers. they played him at DT, but watch and think of him as a 3-4 DE. i'm seeing some aaron smith and chris hoke mixed in this kid. nice quickness and gets off blocks in a timely manner to make plays or causes others to make plays. someone did their work on these UDFA's. we got some very good options to work with and alot of good competition for camp. i'm pretty excited to see it get underway.

Kid plays with a mean streak- gotta love that. I'd have to watch some full games, but I do like his tenacity and the fact that he goes until it's time to line back up.

My only concern is the open field cut blocks not sure how well that will translate in the nfl.

He looks good Mac, even on plays where it seems the blocker has the best of him, he'll break free just as the ball carry gets near him to make the play, saw him shed some double teams too. I don't watch a lot of film so what keeps certain players from getting more attention? Level of competition? Because Embernate and Arnfelt both look good to me.

A couple things stand out from his interview....

Outside of football, what’s been the biggest experience that’s shaped you into the man you’ve become?
I would say actually getting my college degree. I was the first one in my family to graduate from college. When I first started school, I didn’t do so well. I got put on academic probation and a lot of people wrote me off and said I’d be out of school, so I got to prove some people wrong and prove I can do it.

Is there anything you need to work on off the field?
No, not so much. The one thing is actually learning football. The thing I struggled with in college is that I had a learning disability, so I had to utilize our disability services for test taking, note taking, stuff like that. It takes me a little longer to learn stuff. I’m a visual learner. I need to set things up and walk through things. So that’s something I have to work on.

Hopefully he can handle the playbook and the mental aspect of the pro game because he certainly looks good on tape and I love the aggressive play.

Well, living in San Diego, and having attended a few games the last couple of years, I can say that he's definately interesting, and I am excited to see how he pans out. He does have the work ethic, and grittyness to compete. Just need to see how his skills match up......

I liked him too but didn't mock him ( considered him a 7th rder ) because I went with B. Jones in the 2nd. Not really sure he can make this team. He played RG and we have Foster and DD.

With Legs gone what we need is a Back-up center and starting LG. Maybe he can transition to the leftside. He's definately a quick and mobile OL which is what we're looking for to fit our new scheme.

    Good Luck young man!
