What about a changeup on Defense?

I have never played a down of organized football so full disclosure in that its just a thought and not spit balling here.

My question is how difficult is it to change a scheme on the defensive side of things.
Do we just give all the credit to the Seahawks for exposing tendencies?
With the loss of key starters were we forced to go zone more than we wanted to last week and allowed the Seahawks to exploit known weaknesses shown on film. At least my observation.

Like what if the Steelers go in tomorrow and force Drake to beat them through his arm and we stack the line tomorrow and make that offense one dimensional. I have not seen this much with the Steelers but there appeared many times where the line literally gets pushed back a yard before the RB even begins his run.

Yes they will get burned but this isn't exactly the 94 Cowboys tomorrow.

Any all 22 people or youtubers seeing any different wrinkles this year?

Off topic but in another thread there is discussion about the lack of communication or discipline on defense. That remined me of the Patriots playoff game where the Pats took advantage of how the back four likes to come up and attack (Mitchell, etc). They through a flea flicker where there were two wide receivers wide open as can be.

The point is that we have seen this movie before with a new cast but hopefully more coachable.

Was Minkah that much of an X factor even though his tackling was under par lately?

    Thanks for reading

They have been blitzing more on defense this year in top 5 for blitz %, but you can't miss the tackle on the QB like Queen did on Darnold then they get a first down. And with 4 starters out they probably had to scale back some things.

Remember that game plane the Steelers had on both sides of the ball but especially offense against the colts and broncos in the SB? To confuse the Peyton and the colts was in my opinion the best game plan I have seen from the Steelers.
It was not on film study so that is why the argument to show Drake something completely different from film that would rattle him.

They coaches are afraid to do anything different. The players can not get the simple stuff they been working all training camp and you want to institute something within a week? Good luck.

Its very difficult to change scheme, you have months or years of running a scheme and drafting or signing players to fit that scheme and installing all of the personnel packages. Its really hard to do during the season, you really need to change the coordinator and have an offseason to install the new schem and figure out the personnel, then you meed time for the players to all learn the new scheme.

I hear you...I just think that this is a younger QB that could lose confidence if shown something different than game film.

I would think that the team defense is built to beat a Bills, Chiefs, Ravens so changing something so radically would be a square peg round hole type thing with respect to personnel on D.

The whole league knows what we do on defense inside and out, but we're going to need a complete change of leadership before that sinks in it seems.

It's been obvious for years, since they were torn apart every time by Brady.

Drives me crazy, all this absolute nonsense about this defense. And the Steelers learn nothing, if its a disaster and you have the most expensice defense in football by a mile, who is at fault here?

This defense hasn't been able to defend against TE's or crossing routes or the middle of the field for that matter for 15 yrs. MMM probably soon after Cowhers last few guys retired .

It is as vanilla as Canada's offense was , it really does not use much deception at all. If we get great pressure from the outside and a big push up the middle it can be very good .
But they just made two lower ranked offenses make them look very vulnerable. It's not Austin's defense it has always been Tomlins that's maybe why they let Flores go.
