Damn. That is way too young.

Dale had already been around the team a little while when I covered some games back in the '90s. Solid reporter and a good guy.

Damn... this rips me up... why is god taking so many away from us?

Tunch, Wolfe, Stan, now Dale.

I remember back in the day really enjoying his "NFL From the Sidelines" blog. He used to have some interesting inside info because he covered the team, and I was excited when they brought him in for SNR.

 

I really enjoyed that blog too. I liked sending him an occasional question and he was always good about responding.

Man, way too young. **** cancer.

 

RIP Dale Lolley. was a true fan for sure. will be missed by steeler nation.

I used to listen to Lolley and Williamson every day on SNR he will be missed, nothing against the new guy Wes Uhler the show just isn't the same.

 

Saddened to hear this. I regularly listened to the Drive podcast and followed Dale on X

I noticed that he hasn’t been on lately but didn’t realise he was seriously ill

RIP. I moved away 37 years ago so I didn’t really know him but my condolences. Way too young.

 

So young, this is terrible. I used to bust his chops sometimes on his blog. Hopefully he didn't mind. It was great fun going to that blog, and I missed it a lot when it moved/shut down.

Saddened to hear this yesterday RIP Dale

 

Based on what I knew of him, I am certain he got a chuckle out of it.

 

I didn't know him but ran across paths once in a blue moon (Washington vs Pittsburgh)
And didn't equate the face with name.
Now that I have; I always liked the Pittsburgh Beat guys, when I occasionally sat in the opponents post game conferences, I thought they had better questions.
Most of our guys, like Mark Maske really didn't know a 1st down from a flute but they knew everything imaginable about golf.
Beat guys never get enough credit for what they do. They do get abused by the team's front office and generally thought of in the same breath as fleas.
These guys are there everyday, in the sun, rain, snow etc..... and some were actually very good writers.
These days, it more like TMZ reporting.
And I hate to pick on women, but there are some..... they show up in short skirts with 9 inch spike heel shoes with a list of questions someone back at the office wrote for them and they have no idea what they are asking, they are just eye-candy for fans...
Again, some actually do know the game but there are those bimbos.

I can't really say I knew Dale or his work though I know I've obviously read pieces, it's tough to see a good man go down, especially at the hands of cancer.
I am positive he will be missed by fans, players and coaches.
