    Well Seatle missed a FG

Our tackle play is perhaps the worst in the league.

Tomlin can not coach the defense and lives in his fears on offense. Nor can he demand more snaps for R Wilson.

They don't have much depth at WR they need to get Roman involved more in the offense.

Not sure what the problem is; he's had 32 snaps, run 20 routes, been targeted just 2 times. Maybe he's just not very good at getting open?

I would assume that is his issue or Rodgers cant see him. AS might be leaving him out of the playbook for reasons we do not know.

Starting receivers get targets when they get open. Despite his speed, Austin doesn't do that nearly enough.

Metcalf's first half drops hurt badly on Sunday. We have NO MARGIN for error with this weak offense

well....Rodgers missed some throws too, on Sunday. BUT - he too in UNDER ASSAULT in the pocket.

I said in April, if we can't run, this O will suck.........you need it to play action, to create time in the pocket for an Austin to get down field, for a Wilson to cross and zig and zag, etc....

That is a big assumption, one not backed up at all by what we have seen so far this season.

Thank you for demonstrating that one big play can create a fluky statistic. Take away Warren's 65-yard reception and the Steelers' three running backs would have only 186 combined yards this season. Even worse, they have only 123 yards rushing.

You may argue that it is unfair to discount that one play by Warren, but the claim to which you are responding was about the lack of a second back to pair with Warren. That is about the weak contributions from Gainwell and Johnson, not what Warren has done. Also, you have clearly argued that Gainwell is not as good as Harris.

Since you decided to switch the argument to the entire running back room, notice that I mentioned three running backs instead of two because I was going for an accurate, apples-to-apples comparison. The Steelers used three backs last year, so the appropriate comparison would be Harris, Warren, and Patterson to Warren, Gainwell, and Johnson.

The 2024 trio had 204 yards rushing in the first two games despite the offense sputtering with Fields taking the snaps. Despite a much-improved passing game with Rodgers, the current three backs have not been nearly as effective, gaining only 123 total yards rushing so far.

What the Steelers have now is a much weaker running back room and a much less effective running game despite finally having a quarterback who is a much bigger threat than those the team had last year.

My thoughts center around involving TE Washington more.
He's a big guy that can block and has decent speed to catch passes.
I might move Pat to 2nd status but use the double TE set more.
But it is Arthur Smith's Offense.

I agree with Roger's in that we need to run the ball, something I made several comments about.
Our RB's should be around 250 yads.
We are doing literally the same thing that we did to Kenny Picket only Rogers has enough experience to throw 53 times in a game.
But the problem is, can we protect him?

That leads into the Receiving corps.
I've been looking at the All22 and some small stuff that I have access to.
It looks like the routes are there, unlike Canada's mismatch where he often design crap that would have a receiver dragging coverage right into another route.
Austin did that and caused an interception.
I don't see a lack of effort like we did with DJ and Pickens.
But I see a little lack of having a 'feel for the seam' or drifting to open spots. Especially on the scramble drill.
Roger's 99.9% of the time will find the open man and will throw it to them. But under duress, that window is much smaller.

I think most of our problems boil down to the battle in the trenches. We are not winning on either side.

A poor selection of talent on the offensive side and aging defenders.

For the Defense, I think it all could be summed up in this "WE MISS MINKAH!!!!"

I think they traded away the center of their defense and are now regretting it. Minkah is not back their playing Center Field anymore. :(

What is it they miss most? The lack of impact plays from their free safety or how teams were able to consistently get him out of position to hit big plays in the passing game last year?
