Being incredibly talented vs. being good are two different things. For that matter, every NFL Defense has some form of talent. It is matter if that talent can be orchestrated as good as possible for that talent to shine. That hasn't been the case for the Steelers dating back to last season. I honestly don't expect things to change come next week either against New England.


If anything, I am waiting for @HeinzMustard to say his usual spiel for that gives me infinitely more joy than seeing... whatever the hell this defense is. What does he often say?!

This defense is fresh out of Coach's Easy Bake Oven. Yum. Yum.

 

They're old. Damn near half the defense will be 30+ come December. They aimed for a HR, in which i don't completely blame them for it, and has struck out.

 

I never comment on the defense until @S.T.D has a chance to point out that that defense actually played a great game and it was the offense's fault!!!!! We jsut need to draft 4 more DBs!!!

The schematics have changed since Dick left. Their base is a 425, and unfortunately that change is precisely why their run defense is awful. Their edges are too small to play DE.

 

Exactly. The league has changed over that time and Tomlin's defensive schemes and philosophies are no longer relevant in today's game.
