A lot of current and former players on other teams have said that the way the Steelers play defense is very predictable and hasn't changed in many many many many many years.

My impression, we still have two coordinators who have no guts or imagination. I may be in the minority, and maybe I don't know as much as I think I do, but I believe that Washington should see 5+ targets a game. I'm hoping he leaves as soon as possible for a team with a 21st century OC.

That was a fun game all the way to the end.

I have to give Fields a ton of credit. He made some pro throws today. He knew the Steelers defense and the defense knew him. It was a great chess match.
The Jets defensive plan was pressure and more pressure.

The OL still doesn't play with enough physicality. They don't move anybody. The run game relies on finesse and misdirection too much.

When you rush your OLBs like we do, the DL will get abused when it's 3-4OL on 2DL.

    Week1, 1-0.

Fair, but the running back was reaching the second level regularly and alarmingly easily, much like the playoff game last year.

if he does it is an indictment of our ability to develop and utilize talent properly.

Defenses will blitz us a lot this season. You cannot let a QB like ARod stand in a clean pocket. If our OL can keep him clean once every 3 downs, this offense is going to put up numbers this season. ARod to DK and CA3 and Muuuuuth and Smith looks like a deadly combination after today.

Unfortunately, KJ is running backwards so far this season.

He got one carry today and it was the same stupid crap they did with Harris last year. They took a big, powerful inside runner and had him run a pitch play to the outside.

    What's your point? -2 is -2. Backwards.

He'll get more opportunities. This is where he is after week 1.

He looked really in control out there. You have seen this defense play this way for a while now. I'm going to give Fields credit hete

Ramsey alluded to it and gave credit to the offense

Jets offense definitely found something to attack against the Steelers.

They seemed to find a lot of success with the midrange throws in the middle of the field.

They must have concluded that our ILB’s and middle of the field safeties aren’t very good in coverage.

Slimming down sure didn't help him any, he's getting pushed around.

I never liked running back by committee, but I assume these highly paid coaches know what they’re doing

This offense is going to make this season fun to watch.

The defense… well. I wait for week two.

Is Gainwell the lead back. If so, i need to hit my fantasy waiver wire.

I don’t understand how you get rid of a power back like Harris eliminating that one two combination of Harris/Warren (Speed/Power) and expect the running game to improve? Everyone everywhere, including here, telling me KJ is the fix. It’s illogical. We have no run game!

We’re the the PITTSBURGH STEELERS for cripes sake!

Im convinced Im living in an alternate reality..

Glad they got away with the win (thanks to Boz's 60 yard FG).

We'll have a better idea about the team next week.
In 1997, the Steelers lost 7-37 to a weak Cowboys team (that finished 6-10). In 2001, they lost 3-21 to a weak Jaguars team (6-10).
Both of those Steelers teams won their division and had top-10 offenses and defenses, despite how bad they looked week 1.

As for Rodgers, I think a lot of people (or at least the media talking heads) don't understand how age affects the athletes.
They act like reaching age 40 means a steady decline in abilities across the board.
That is incorrect. Rodgers ceiling remains as high as it ever was.
Reaching 40 means that he won't have those peak games as often. It will take more effort to reach that level, he won't be able to maintain it as long, the drop-off due to fatigue will be more drastic, and it will take a significantly more rest to recover if he gets worn out or injured.

In other words, I expected Rodgers to look really good in this first game.
The real tests will be weeks 3/4, or a few games after the bye week, if his stamina is still there. He is going to need a lot more help from the running game and (especially) the defense, because carrying the team on his back like he just did is going to wear him out faster.

No way Fields throws 4 tds to help win this game. Everyone is praising Fields, and He threw 1 td, and ran one, on a team that was running 50 yards a carry.

Actually that would be an indictment of 3 different HCs.

We didn’t run the ball for nothing. Why didn’t we try to get King Henry? I mean he is a STUD. Our running game is most likely going to be bad. When you do a running back by committee you’re in trouble. Warren is a change of pace back. He would come in after Najee ran 20 times and get a splash play here and there. So now he’s our lead back. Don’t understand why we didn’t get Chubb or at least keep Najee. Hopefully one out of the pack will become a beast. If we did have Henry that would’ve have been a game changer.

Amen to that brother. He was playing like 3 different positions that I seen, and with the injuries, we need it . Already a good sign

My point is that it doesn't make much sense to say usually when it was only one carry.
