I believe MT will meet with media tomorrow but from what I’m hearing Herbig is Doubtful and of course Harmon is out for likely 2/3 games. I think Benton may also be nicked but not sure the severity. I think both CA3 and Jonnu should be good to go.

Jet fan here, just trying to respectfully see the view from the opposing team. With some of these injuries plus the age of Cam Heyward, his lack of practice. The lack of physicality from the Steelers starters in general this summer. How do fans view the Steelers run defense in this matchup? I understand it was a concern last year. The Jets have ran a very physical camp under Glenn. They’ve structured their personnel on offense to emphasize a run heavy identify, big blocking WR’s and TE’s, multiple backs and an offensive line with high hopes. I think the Steelers are a better team but can the Jets exploit this matchup?

I don't know when the first official injury report drops, but CA3 and Jonnu are the names I will be rushing to see if they are on it.

The Jet's D will be a good test to see what happens when they face a shutdown corner that can take DK off the board. If Sauce Gardner can take DK off the board, what is the Steelers Plan B?

Both CA3 and Jonnu have been practicing for a week and a half and have a week to go

The team was playing it safe with both

Both will be good to go game one

What the plan usually is. Win an ugly 13-10 game with a defensive TD or turnover setting up a TD.

That is what I am hoping, but I still want to see the Weekly injury report.

I do wonder how quickly both are integrated into the offense missing basically all of training camp.

They both will have had 2 1/2 weeks of practice and they were still in on meetings and watching practice plus CA played in the offense last year

Welcome, Doug - as is any respectful banter from opposing fans here.

In Week 1 it's hard to know what to expect when your starters sit most of the preseason. Upgrading the defensive front was a priority for the unit in the offseason (and since Kahn and Weidl were brought in), and while we picked up two solid players this draft in Harmon and Black to add to an (aging) Heyward and Benton, it's hard to say what kind of improvements we'll see since Harmon is out and Heyward has missed some practice time and is a year older - albeit returning from an All-Pro season last year.

I don't know much in depth about your team. I know the o-line was maligned last season; were you guys able to patch it up? Also interested to hear your thoughts on Breece Hall. I thought of him as a talented three-down back, but reports are that Glenn is committed to go RB by committee. It would be surprising to see that his talents have diminished significantly - especially since he looked good the season after his ACL tear - but his efficiency metrics from last year weren't good.

What are you guys thinking of Fields?

I don’t think Jannu has been practicing that long. I think we see a lot of Mt Washington and Jonnu gets brought along slowly over the first couple weeks. CA3 was around last year but not with old man winter. I could see Roman getting more time in 2 WR sets.

It’s the Jets and we already know Fields can’t read the Field however….

You damn well know the Steelers offense will be sloppy and rusty so a low scoring close game is likely. Those can go either way.

Well, things could definitely be worse. I mean you could be a cowboy fan or something like that! So don't despair! LOL

We are filled with hope and critique and a little dismay at all the injuries we already have. I for one don't have a clue how this week is going to shake out..... In 6 days, the renewed cries for tomlin's head will become louder, or perhaps we will just mutter under our breath about how we should have done better but at least we got to win....lol

Ha my names not actually Doug, it’s a nod to the 2004 Jets/Steelers divisional game. Probably one of the most excruciating losses of my entire lifetime.

The offensive line should be the biggest strength of the Jets on offense this year (knock on wood). To Jet fans Breece Hall is sort of old news, Braelon Allen is the back that will surpass Breece by the end of the year, but it will be dynamic committee for sure. They may run the ball 50 times a game between. Breece/Allen/Fields.

When it comes to Fields, everybody knows he can’t pass from the pocket. Our new OC from the Lions has supposedly designed this entire offense solely around his legs, our running backs and the offensive line. He may only throw 15 passes a game. Expect RPOs, QB powers and a lot of 4th and short Tush Pushes. This is going to be a grind the clock bully ball ground and pound offense, which is why I was so interested in the Steelers run defense.

For sure, and our OC is definitely well aware of this. The entire design of the offense is going to be using Fields legs as the focal point behind a strong OL. Will be interesting to watch. We’re hopeful because Fields has never played in a system THIS tailored to his strengths at such an extreme. The idea is that this style will eventually open up deep shots as the game goes on and the box gets stacked.

A lot of us Jet fans are Yankee fans so it sort of reminds me of Aaron Boone and the standard of being a marquee franchise. The Steelers have such a high standard but remember the grass isn’t always greener. We would kill to have a coach like Tomlin for the past 20 years.
