McCown and Fitzpatrick made a fortune over the years as backup QBs. Seemed like they were around forever. Legit backup QBs with longevity.... make a fortune compared to what we average lackey fans make. Being a career backup QB is a very honorable. Pickett is good enough to make a career out of backup QB.

I was never a KP basher, nor saw much to think he had tremendous talent, had a great year at Pitt, a lot of guys have one outstanding year in college and it does not translate to the NFL. Once Ben retired (even before) the O was never consistent in any phase of the game, ranking near the bottom in every category. No QB excelled, no O line production, lackluster running and passing game. the lack of talent and development is/was starts at the top. Would training and system development have made KP a better player, possibly, how good?????, in good systems average QB's have actually done decent, but the lack of talent is apparent if the surrounding cast falls off.

How many humans on planet earth are good enough to make a NFL roster as QB for 5 or more years?

    Answer: not many

    Both can be true

Pickett is a terrible QB and it was a horrible reach by the steelers in the 2022 draft when he would been likely drafted in the 3rd round at best if the steelers did not draft him in the first round

But this is also true he was in a horrible situation in a Matt Canada offense

Nothing in the pre-draft process indicated that he was going to last to the third round. That the other quarterbacks fell doesn't mean he would have done so. People really need to stop with that nonsense.

many mock draft had Willis in the first round in the entire pre draft process,so the pre-draft process don't mean much about to what the GM of the nfl think...When you start to slide in the draft, you can slide very far....

Mock drafts are fun to look at and debate but let's be honest. They are written by guys sitting at a desk and some probably played little to no football in their lives. The NFL is full of people that are paid to make correct decisions on every player. Entire team departments spend their time evaluating and watching film, interviewing, etc. With all that expertise they really are only modestly better than the mocks. And what no mock takes into account is the team environment the player will fall into.

Agreed that it was a horrible reach in the 2022 draft. But Pickett is not a terrible QB. As evidenced by 3 separate teams investing draft capital to trade for him. He is a mid level QB2. Our issue as fans is that the team invested a 1st round draft pick on a QB2.

He very easily drops out of the first and likely to the 3rd with everyone else but perhaps some other team would have reached in the 2nd, we’ll never know.

We just saw Howard that most mocks had going in the 3rd drop until the 6th. You cannot watch both their tape and say Pickett was a first rd talent and Howard was a 6th.

Pickett was a massive reach and he actually did the Steelers a favor by working his way out of Pittsburgh. He’s on his 4th team now and proving he isnt even BU worthy. If the Eagles felt comfortable with him filling in for Hurts in the event of an injury, they never would have let him go. Cleveland felt comfortable enough to go with two rookies over him.

agreed, kenny had no support. From the line, skill positions or coaching. Specially the coordinator. He might have been ok and still with the team if he did, like a brock purdy, maybe better, we’ll never know. It was a tough situation for any rookie Qb to come into. Ben was lucky in that respect, he came into a much better situation

Ben also compensated for his lack of the quick read and O-line mistakes by being a beast to get down early in his career. His pump fake was awesome as well.

Once we drafted KP8 I really wanted to see him succeed. However, my concerns were his best year in college was his 5th, when he was 23, playing against 18-19 year olds. That can skew the stats a little bit. He also played in not the most prolific of conferences.
