First offensive series of the season

What do you think will happen?

I have a hard time channeling unrealistically optimistic expectations for the offense. Here's what I think will happen:

Run, run, illegal motion penalty, 3rd and 12, sack, 4th and 17, punt

 

With so many starters not even sniffing pre-season games - more likely - false start, holding, incomplete pass, sack, great punt. Sorry, we've all seen this movie before. Hoping for the Costanza thing to kick in and negate all this rust.

 

One play. ARod to CA3 for a 75 yard TD.

 

They must do the opposite.

 

Three of your fist four plays are offensive line breakdowns, which outside of one player all have played in all three pre-season games. And you have us punting on third down.

 

As long as the the time runs out, and we are the winners.
I also know we are getting the game where I live, so NFL Ticket will be completely useless the 1st game.

Last I checked the play call becomes moot with an offensive penalty. Also, neither DK Metcalf nor AR saw any pre-season snaps so that's more than 1. Also the other team could have declined one of the penalties so a punt could be in order. Certainly hope none of this happens nor would it be my choice but........

 

Overall it will be important that the steelers are much better in their first drive of the game that last year and the other years before...I mean,0 opening drive TD in 2024 and only 10 TD in 100 games since 2019,worst in the NFL

 

Short run by Warren, couple of nice pass plays, capped with a Jaylen Warren 16 yard TD run.

Honestly it doesn't matter what the first series looks like. It isn't an indication one way or the other that the offense will be good. I certainly prefer points, but it is really hard to tell since we haven't seen the first team offense in live game action all at the same time.

I was hoping a defensive stop initially and punt return

 

We have a good looking drive down to the Jets 20 but a holding call kills the drive and Boz hits a 48 yarder.

 

Warren run for 7.
AR to Jonnu Smith on a crossing route for 14.
AR to DK for 19.
AR on a dump pass to Warren for 2.
Warren for 4.
AR to DK for TD.

I really think that AR will be airing it out. But.....the Jets are not good against the run either. So we might see some of that action. But, I am betting they will try and set the tone with the passing game so that they open up the run game a bit more.
