DJ says hold my beer. DJ is being released by Cleveland. Johnson joined Cleveland in April after spending the 2024 calendar year on four different clubs (Steelers, Panthers, Ravens, Texans).

I might be reading into things, but.......

KP is not a horrible QB. He is kind of in the Rudolph category. Almost a starter quality guy, but a solid back up (IMO). I think KP might even have a higher ceiling than Rudolph.

So, why is he the guy that has seen 4 teams on his rookie contract? I am guessing that KP has a lot of personal issues. Maybe maturity, personality, leadership, chip on the shoulder, lack of effort to improve.......whatever. But I bet that it is not his skill that keeps him being the man out. It is the mental side of things.

His ego is fragile. He doesn't embrace competition but runs away from it. He could have tried to compete here and been a competent backup and tried to get his job back after Russell Wilson's time. He at least has a Super Bowl ring.

Kenny is headed to back up QB land, but its OK, back ups are paid very well, stick around as long as you can.
    Just go ask Josh Dobbs....

We didn't have 62 Qbs like the Browns did.

Because they probably are only good Qbs in their minds, and if You truly are a good player, and are behind a good player, he will be gone soon enough.

I don't think he's even a solid back-up, he sees competion and runs away from it. That's not an NFL QB.

The NFL is also filled with present and past QBs that fell into a starter slot due to luck, injury or something else and had a great season followed by a huge contract and sub par performance.......lol.....Wentz, Carr, Goff, Tannehill.....etc.

Hate to be Debbie Downer again, but selecting Pickett in the 1st round is just one example of the total mismanagement of the team in the past decade or longer. Rooney bears a good deal of the blame by keeping the same head coach while the performance and reputation of the Steelers continued to decline.

im going to go out on a limb and say pairing KP with the infamous Matt Canada did more damage to the young Qb than we may realize. He might have indeed been a good prospect coming out of college that the steelers and Tomlin saw all the time in the same facility. All this talk of his own personality flaws may be a bit overblown.

I think the Canada effect was a big factor.

The team made mess of things, especially allowing him to go through the procedure on his ankle to rush back and then not giving him another shot.

I think that was part of it. So was being stuck with a head coach who took away his natural aggressiveness. They took a quarterback who thrived attacking the middle in college and told him to avoid mistakes at all costs.

That said, I'm at the point that I don't think he can stay healthy, anyway.
