Yes, Max was excellent doing the post game show the last couple of years and he has continued that on the radio broadcast.

Alright STD. 2nd play of the game after Warren 8 yard run was called back for holding. I don't understand why you don't like Warren block on #48.
#48 starts out wide, and then sneaks inside the WRs and is ready to make a be line for Mason with Warren on the opposite side when the play begins.
    upload_2025-8-21_20-26-50.png
Look at that TE completely clueless the rush is on to kill Mason. (Damn you, at least look at #48)
Oops, that should be the Tackle is so focused on the inside he completely misses that the Blitz is on.
    upload_2025-8-21_20-28-1.png
Warren moves to the other side and gets infront of Mason to Stop #48 from blowing up Mason.

    upload_2025-8-21_20-31-23.png
Not sure why you are claiming Warren "Got Blown Up"
    upload_2025-8-21_20-32-45.png
For me, this is why I expect to see a lot of Warren on the field to protect Aaron Rodgers. If Warren stays on the side where he starts the play Mason gets a free trip to the Hospital. :)
Because, when the play starts there is absolutely no reason to believe that #48 is blitzing out wide, and your TACKLE never sees him sneaking to the inside. This is a vet move by Warren to read the danger.

I kind of assume Thompson already beat out Howard for QB3. That probably isn’t fair considering Howard’s injury, but those are the breaks in pro sports.
I would keep Howard on the PS

The answer to both questions is the same. He has years of showing the league he isn't good.

All your points are valid, but what did your eyes tell you tonight, and in the earlier games (BTW, I don’t blame anyone for not watching preseason football).

Sorry, that is not a clueless TE, but an Offensive tackle that just stands there doing nothing the entire play.

Arthur Moats was saying on the post game show that Skylar Thompson has had the better pre-season over Mason Rudolph and it isn't even close.

My eyes told me that he was put in 2nd or 3rd and long due to lack of running game and penalties. He was getting pressure and receivers weren’t getting open down field against their starters. He pressed and went for a big play not noticing that upfield D back had held back to intercept the pass. It’s bad route design to have two receivers in the same area on long pass as it essentially means that both receivers are double covered. I doubt the play was designed to have both receivers in the same area, so one of the receivers definitely messed up. It also means that Mason got mentally lazy in not accounting for the other dback pre snap.

It was just fun last night with him. I could have made a few of those passes because our guys were so wide open. That would not have been the case if starters were in for Panthers.

I will say this though, I can see at as #2 but I know nod goes to Mason.

Like that never happened before in Steeler history. Thank you BOZ!!

Kudos to Ben Sauls last night. It's funny, I am nervous when he kicks because he is a lefty.

Mason was going up against starters and some of the playcalls were designed to give some players a rep like outs to Warren etc. Mason never really had wide open receivers and Skylar had receivers so wide open that even I could get them the ball. Skylar also missed an easy TD throw. That said, Skylar had a good preseason, but he was going up against back ups. Pickett looked all world in Preseason. In actual nfl season, Skylar has a record of 4 Wins and 6 Losses and abysmal QB rating of 66. He has 1 TD and 3 TD in 10 games played and never had a game with over 100 QB rating. Mason has had 7 games with over 100 QB rating in 18 games played (5 of which were with the worst team in the nfl). It seems Skylar has problems when the field is shrunk and he has to be accurate in tight spaces. A writer that writes for the Steel Depot rated all the QB in training Camp, and rated Mason as the best QB in the camp. Coaches evaluate what they see in the camp. Mason is like Tommy Maddox...sort of a gun slinger who can look very good and look bad the next series. He will always have interceptions because he takes chances long. But he also gives you big plays. He always moves the ball, even when he was with Titans. Here's a link to the Steeler Depot writer Alex Kazora evaluating QB's. .

I was pointing out stats which are irrefutable. We are talking about preseason stats so its just understood you take it very lightly. Having said this I would take Skylar over Rudolph every day of the week. Will see but I still say at this point and small sampling Skylar is the choice.

Baker Mayfield sucked in Cleveland and now look.

Coaches will go with what they see in camp, along with preseason. Alex Kozora mentioned that Mason's stat in training camp dwarfed Skyler Thompson in the link I provided above. Its apple and oranges when players go against back ups and players that won't be playing in the nfl. Skylar could manage only 1 TD throw in 10 nfl games he played and had three interception. 1 TD in 10 games is a problem. It means he doesn't anticipate well, or is not accurate in tight spaces.

Right. I don't think I said any different really. All the measurables we have right now are training camp and preseason and I never said any differently but Skylar still looks better. Don't care what any of the pundits say. My eyes see it and the stats prove it. So lets see what the Steelers say since they are better at this then you or I. The Steelers sometimes make decisions on different metrics like knowing the offense better then another candidate.

The Panthers played none of their starters last night so Mason was going against backups last night too.
