    1. Mason Rudolph still doesn't know when to use touch as opposed to firing it in

    2. Skylar Thompson is a 1 read qb

    3. Kaleb Johnson has vision, but started displaying the Najee Harris dancing bear approach too often

    4. Derrick Harmon is a massive human

    5. Roman Wilson looked very good

    6. Scott Miller probably cemented his spot tonight

    7. Tampa's 1st td was basically gift wrapped

    8. The punter competition is very real

    9. Feeling very good about this front 7... especially if we make Cam Heyward happy

    10. Sebastian Castro will be lost to us if we try to stash him on the practice squad

    11. Logan Lee's versatility may be his saving grace

12.) Broderick and Troy are heating up a lot quicker than initially thought.

13.) Zach Frazier must get those snapping woes down before the start of the season.

14.) Pittsburgh is going to nab a Vet FA OT very soon.

15.) Highsmith and Herbig being nicked before the start of the season doesn't bode well at all.

Team is still not fundamentally disciplined. Still can’t stop anything on 3rd down.

Also looks like the running game will either be the same or worse. If the running game and offensive line do not come through, it’s going to be dink and dunks for Rodgers much like how Big Ben’s last year was.

Everyone will blame Rodgers and everyone will hate the players all around when the common denominator is still the guy who is called the head coach.

cook did a good job. not perfect but very solid. about a half at LT and a quarter at RT.

lew nichols is a good RB. i'd like to see him behind the starters. would hate to lose him. pretty full room though.

    holcomb playing some varsity ball.

    thornhill looks good.

    some tough decisions coming.

is it me or is herbig always hurt?

That pass by Mason was thrown late over the middle as the receiver was not the first read. It had to be thrown hard as to get it through a small window so safety or linebacker on the inside didn’t have time to tip or intercept it.

They already signed a vet tackle. He hasn’t shown particularly well, but he’s there

Apparently you missed the fact nearly 80% of the defensive starters didn’t play. People really need to stop drawing conclusions from preseason games

Seems like both Herbig and Highsmith are nicked up quite often. Certainly a concern especially if both of them are injured.

I doubt many fans think they will play all 17 games. Have to hope each only miss a few.

You are correct but a lot of fans do it. I know fans of the Eagles who are worried since Browns beat them. Regular season the Eagles would beat them by 30 but some fans put to much stock in pre-season.

Now if I'm a Brown fan I just had my Super Bowl;)

Roman Wilson looked lost on the 1st interception. He sort of jogged in the same direction as the guy that intercepted. Guess he just wanted to be in the proximity when someone else tackled the guy. I was not impressed with his effort there. Outside of that, he had a good game I thought.

Kaleb Johnson reminded me a lot of Najee Harris in the first half. He looked slow and was running into people. Second half he was much much better. Gave me some hope for his future. He looked faster and was hitting some holes. I know that to start, the holes did not look like they were there, so some of that is the O line....but I felt much better seeing him in the 2nd half.

Mason Rudolph was like a Talking Heads song. Same as it ever was. He is a known quantity from whom we know exactly what we are going to get. Good backup.

I thought Sklar Thompson was much improved over Preseason 1's game. He looked like he handled the ball better. His one big error was the interception where I was not sure how he underthrew it so much. Outside of that, I felt like he played better than his rating of 61.2 says he did.

Nichols had a rush of 37 yards. Can't remember the last time I saw that from a Steeler. It was nice.

We went from Pressley Hardin III just 2.5 years ago to Corliss Waitman and Cameron Johnston. Outstanding upgrade. Both of these guy are not just starter material, but guys that are really good. Johnston is listed as our #1. I would be happy with either and hope that whoever doesn't get the job gets immediately grabbed up by another team as a starter. Maybe the Steelers can trade that guy for a WR......lol

There was no one behind the receiver..... a little more air on that pass and we have a big play

Your not the only one regarding Herbig being knicked.

He seems to be knicked quite a bit. Was knicked a bit last season as well.

We had 3 RBs average over 4ypc, over 17 total Carries. Somebody will remove the 30+yard run to make the effort seem less than it was. A good showing by the run game after not doing much at all in last weeks scrimmage.

Normal statistical analysis would remove the 30+ and the lowest

Maybe this is true. However, I'm talking about an improvement from one week to the next. It's not so much a statistical eval as much as a comparison.

vs the Jags, the Steelers rushed for 66 total yards and only 1 RB averaged over 4ypc. This was 23 total rushes by 4 different RBs.

vs the Buccs, the Steelers rushed for 130 total yards and 3RBs averaged over 4ypc. 22 total rushes by 5 different RBs.

I had to go look it up for accuracy. The Steelers run game almost doubled their production with approximately the same number of tries. I see this as a positive thing.

I’m not a stats guy, but I believe the removal of outliers with an n<30 will also lead to misleading results.

A little more air takes more time to complete and gives inside defenders more time to react. The 'more air' throw has to be perfect as not to overthrow the receiver as he is against the back line and also over the inside defenders. That's a tough throw to make. He chose the easier option in the split second. He had already thrown an interception and he didnt want to chance another one. The pass hit receiver right in the hands. NFL receiver is suppose to catch those passes. I am more concerned about the interception. That pass was never open on a flat trajectory. That needed air. His touchdown after moving to his left to get away from pressure was something he wouldn't have done in his first year of starting.

You can add Highsmith and Watt to that list which doesn't bod well for the OLBer room.

Hopefully we can see a healthy Watt for the season as well as Highsmith and Herbig.

And they would be getting a vet FA OT off the scrap heap, probably not much better than what they already have.
