Those were his final numbers in that game? I didn't look at the stat sheet, just watched the game. So, that's six big plays, granted. What I saw was a guy who was being neutralized pretty easily throughout. But I guess perception can be different than reality.

Lol! I was thinking the same thing! You can't please everyone I guess. Love the pick can't wait to see him play. Half the board has labeled him a bust before he got off the stage.

I just can't get over people knocking him for his age. If he stays with the Steelers until he is 34 like Harrison that's ten years what more can you ask for. With the way the game is played today it wouldn't surprise me if by that time players are playing into their 40s

They are his stats. That's who Jones is, and that's why I had mixed feelings on his value. He's a guy who is handled fairly easily for much of a game, but finds a way to make huge plays in key situations. If you can weather the 80-90% of the time where he is easily neutralized, the big plays will turn some games in your favor. I did have him as my best player available at pick #17. However, unlike some others I did not consider him an elite, top 5 kind of pick that just happened to fall to us out of sheer luck. He was appropriate value at #17.

Can easily get two contracts out of him. And unless these people knocking his spine condition have medical degrees and personally evaluated his condition, then I am going to trust our doctors that he is fine. No reason to believe he is not in a position to do big things for us in the future.

I think the other thing which needs to be considered is what kind of talent he was going up against in that game. Fluker and Warmack went in the first round. Lacy and Jones will probably go in the 2nd round. Alabama isn't PSU or Michigan where you have maybe one first round talent in the line and some others at skill positions or on D, you are talking about a team that has multiple high end talent guys even in their depth.

Thats great, but do us all a favor and do not change you SN to JJarvis unless you want him to be nothing more than a Special Teamer. We all know how well Stevenson Sylvester turned out.

My only concern is medically. The guy can play football. I am not too concerned about the age factor. The way I see it is we have about 5 more good years with Ben and we need to go for it while we can. Replacing a franchise QB like Ben will take either some luck or some losing seasons. We pretty much have a veteran team with a nice infusion of youth. Sometimes you have to take a chance to hit a home run, this guy has top 5 talent. The future is now!

Love it. Woke up this morning, looking for the grades for the first round picks. Couldn't find a single person, anywhere, that gave this pick lower than a B+, they all "Loved it", "great pick", "Colbert continues his strong first round picks", etc.

What's all the complaining about? You guys are funny......LOL

Age isn't too much of an issue. Look how old Harrison was when he finally started.

Great pick! He tore up the SEC and QBs.

Let's see how old he looks once he seats the cane and suits up.

I don't know which of my stat lines is my favorite:

Jones' 28 sacks, his 45.5 tackles for loss, or his 9 forced fumbles.

Say what you will, Jarvis Jones is disruptive and a game changer.

I am going to follow the pack on this one JackAttack and call it a GREAT PICK. He has a motor and amazing ball instincts. Two thumbs up

I was really high on Spence and well we know how that went. I am hopeful Jones can stay healthy. He will be a force to be reckoned with. He brings it EVERY game
