How would we know that, unless your talking about him doing what Cam Thomas did where it obvious he wasn't even mentally checked in. In 30 some years never watched a player just come out of his stance at the snap of the ball and stand with hands on hips and didn't move an inch.

    Two other things....

    1. You either bet on yourself or you don't. If Cam wanted a 1 year deal last year, he could've gotten it. Then he could've come back to the table and negotiated a larger contract. He chose a 2 year extension (3 year total contract). Opted for the safety of years instead of AAV. Now he wants to up the money on an AAV number... Can't have your cake and eat it too. You negotiated term. You don't get to hold our feet to the fire over AAV dollars.

    2. To use Cam's words from his podcast "you either want to be a Steeler, or you don't". He said this about Rodgers as he was waiting to sign. Now Rodgers is under contract and practicing and Cam is holding out. Which is it? You want to be a Steeler? Or no?

I think it ends up working itself out. I don't think Cam will miss games. But if we can hold a firm line on Polamalu, we sure as hell can do it to Cam.

I read something about it last week. It didn’t make any sense to me either.

It's not. It's not unheard of for a player to get a future year's roster bonus triggered the year before (this helped complicate matters with the Falcons trading Cousins this offseason), but that's not what they did with Heyward.

I will flip my vote to being on Cam Heyward side, if it is true that he told them point blank that he would be back to redo his contract if he had an all pro season in 2024.

Cam was a little non-committal when he said it, but if he did say it to Rooney when he signed his contract, then I have no problem with CAM wanting a new contract.

Then you should have no problem if the Steelers say no to Heyward.

Just because a person tells ahead of time they are not going to honor a contract does not make it ok to not honor the contract

Heyward is not a leader. This guy is the invisible man in January.

How difficult would it be for Pittsburgh to take some of his bonus money in 2026 and convert that to his 2025 Salary?!

Why didn't cam just put in his contract that if he made all pro he gets x?

his thing of saying he would come back to the table sounds like a lie.

I’m hearing now that Cam basically already got 90% of his 2025 contract paid in a roster bonus and that the Steelers really can’t recoup that money if he was to hold out. When I posted yesterday they could go after it apparently I was wrong as he was on the roster in March or whenever it got paid and that’s the only stipulation. Teams do that to fudge around cap numbers. He would only make around 90k a game check at this point if his current deal were to stand. Steelers almost have no option but to pay him something or he could actually sit out games. 90 K a week is a lot to us but it doesn’t mean jack **** to Cam.

    Well now it makes sense

How can anyone be expected to survive on only $90k a week

If Cam had retired everybody would say “yeah Cam”

The Steelers can just consider him retired

The problem is it still hurts us this season presumably and he still got paid. Doesn’t sit right with me at all.

Cam Hayward is no leader. He’s a jackass. I’ll be at the NASCAR race on September 7. The Steelers are quickly dropping down on my priority list.
