Kept trying to tell people @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace. He wasnt a Top 15 Pick for nothing. Moving his ass around was a mistake given his very inexperienced time playing the Left Tackle Position; less than 20 Games.

Offensive Lineman selected within the Top 15 have 25+ games started; minimum. Brodericks athleticism though more than made up for it. Tomlin said it best after he was selected; a "diaper dandy."

He is beginning to come around. He still will have to face Hasson Reddick but his first test against Josh Allen was a success. I never gave up on him in 2024. Happy others didnt either.

Whether people like it or not, Broderick Jones holds the fate of the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers in his hands. If he can play to the level of a Top 10 Offensive Tackle?! Pittsburgh will be Playoff Bound for certain. If not?! Pittsburgh will not be making the Playoffs at all.

    No in between.

I'm glad he is looking better in practices and had a decent outing in the first scrimmage. I thought there were too many times he looked lost and was just standing there watching the play vs the Jags. He got lost twice on hand offs and who he should block. BroJo is green. He needs reps, IMO.

    T. Diggs, Julian Edelman, Jeff Hartings, Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, A. Randle El(off the top of my head) and many many many more players that did well in the NFL that didn't play the position they played in college. Hell almost all of our OLB since we went to a 3-4 when Cowher got here were DEs in college , not OLBs. Again people talking about stuff they have no knowledge about, but shouting it out anyways.

How do we know those college coaches weren't playing these guys out of 'their natural position'? Heck, TJ started out as a TE at Wisconsin. Football players play football. Pretty simple.

I can’t think of any OT that played poorly their first two years then played at least average NFL level his third year

None of those players are o-line players....Playing in a different position at the o-line position is more important for the backup who are not good enough to start

See ....stop talking to me. You don't know a f**king thing. Some I name were OL in college, and one was a SB winner as a center here, and he didn't play center in college. A Steeler fan should know this, but of course you don't. Go talk to people that are as slow as you, and leave me be.

This was announced early and often, why do the Steelers draft a position player and than decide let’s start him at another position?
But, they keep doing it and the fans immediately blame the player.
It’s short of a miracle that Boswell isn’t our starting qb yet
By the way happy birthday @jeh1856@jeh1856

You have a point, but OL players aren’t as versatile as the other positional players.
Plus, Jones not having much experience at LT also presented problems by shuffling him. I get coaches try and see if a player can excel at other positions.
I like Jones, once again only going into his 3 season

To his credit, he looked hurt last year and showed none of the power he was supposed to have.

In the Jags pre-season game he looked like he was playing more to his size and strength with a little more aggression.

I bet he'd have been a great blocking TE.

if it was anybody other than essex saying this i might believe it. essex was not that good of a player when here and now he can judge who is turning the corner? i wish they would take the proven player in the draft and play him at his normal position. not an upside player but one that has done it for 3 years at least. i dunno maybe troy fautanu. a RT should be much easier to find. :smiley1::cool:
