Ho hum. Bucs lose another 1 run game. Just like horseshoes and hand grenades. Right?

Looks like Cherington's trades paid royal dividends last night. Swap Harrington for Ferguson. Swap Santana for Bednar. What could go wrong? Harrington - 0.2 innings pitched - 7 hits, 2 walks, 6 runs. Santana (who's been lights out as a setup man) - 0.1 innings - 4 hits, 1 walk, 5 runs and a big L. 11 runs charged to those 2 guys in 1.0 innings. I swore that it looked like a Steelers game score 17-16.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

You think Skenes has it bad pitching for the dismal Pirates. No one would even know his name if he pitched at mile high stadium. Skenes, Santana and Ashcraft all got pummeled at this locale.

So I think game is in the bag two nights in a row only to wake up to losses. It's the Bucs.

These last 2 weeks have been Costanza's World for the Bucs. And Tomlin doesn't have them prepared.

For the brave hearts out there, Bucs at Rocks free on MLB.TV today (Sunday) 12:10 PDT - that's 3 hours later for you easterners. What could possibly go wrong?

Oh crap, the Pirates have an early 5 run lead;)

Funny, we praised the pitching staff but when we finally score runs they blow up.

8-5 Deja Vu all over again. He left Keller in to give up back to back to back bombs. :drinks:

Bucs sneak out of Denver with a W. Hopefully they still have the Giant's number this week. Then 4 tough ones against the Big Red Machine with KB Hayes in the other dugout.

50 games left and your Bucs are 48-64. They go .500 that be 73 wins. Bucs ain't going .500. Bright side, they probably won't lose 100.

Fortunately they don't have to play the mighty White Soxs again. 3 with the Rockies but not at Mt Everest elevation. Probably all 1-0, 2-1 games.

Dang, the Pirates got a walk off victory! How often does something like that happen?

Somehow the Pirates have won 10 of 13.

    The losses were ...

    * Had the winning run on 3rd with no outs in the bottom of the 10th but failed to score
    * Led 9-0
    * Led 4-0 in the 6th with Skenes on the mound.

Three ridiculous losses. So they're 10-3 over the last two weeks and the three losses they just gave away.

And since May 20th are 34-31.

Well when your player hitting at the Suwinski level (50% of the Mendoza level) hits a 2 run homer and scores the winning run, you're bound to have something wonderful happen. TBH, Suwinski has played very decent in the outfield - saved at least 2 runs on Sunday with 2 great catches and almost a 3rd in foul ground. Maybe they should create a new position in MLB, "Designated Fielder (DF)"? If so the Pirates would probably play 8 DFs every game. :lolol:

Well at least it wasn't 2 more back to back 1 run losses. Looks like Santana wasn't the first setup guy to melt down as a closer. They'll probably reclaim Bednar in about 8 years after he bounces around both leagues and is all spent.

Yippie for Skenes. Now get your ass out of Pittsburgh. Hayes went 1 for 3.

Love beating the Reds and/or Bungals. Better rivalry than Cleveland IMO. :thumbs up:

It is a one sided rivalry with the Browns (II). Pittsburgh’s rival is the Ravens, but Cleveland’s rival is Pittsburgh. When they moved Browns(I) and Cleveland had no team for several years it kind of faded on our end.

Interesting. I'm split on Ohio. 60's it was the hate for Browns who beat us most the time. 70's that MFing Red Machine broke my heart and I hate the Reds.

Just checked and the Bucs are an even .500 against the NL this year, and something like 5 over .500 at home, which are both encouraging. It's OTR (on the ra...err road) and against the American League that they have completely lost it. Another tidbit they mentioned when I watched the replay of last night's "thrilling" W is that they are something like 43 and 19 against the Tiny Red Machine at PNC. So a 4 game series should be music to their ears. So far so good. :thumbs up:
