Initial Depth Chart for Preseason

Kaleb Johnson is listed as the #3 RB behind Warren and Gainwell, that can't be how the regular season opens.

I haven't known Tomlin to hand out a "Preseason Depth Chart" - It is difficult to get him to post a Depth chart during the season but rules state he must.

 

It probably won't be, plus it's been a while since we haven't use 3 different rbs anyway.

 

Warren will be the starter and they will have packages for both Johnson and Gainwell. The hope would be eventually Johnson takes over as the lead back with Warren as the backup and Gainwell as a pass catching gadget option.

 

As MT says don't put too much thought into this in preseason!

Those position groups that you guys said were the areas worth watching during TC, this is how those of us that don't get to go to TC can keep up with the pecking order. How guys are doing in TC will get reflected with some position groups when they get moved up or down on the depth chart. It doesn't mean much at all for the regular season, but it will give a glimpse of the final cuts, who gets moved to PS, stuff like that. Just more of the nerdy part of the football season. Depends on what you like to keep up with.

 

I for one love the preseason. I get to watch who makes, and doesn't make the teams.

 

But, this I under stand, because right now Kaleb Johnson is not a good Pass Blocker.

1) Jaylen Warren. To start preseason this will be Jaylen's job until Kaleb takes it over from him
2) Gainwell will be the Steelers Passing down back until Kaleb learns how to block
3) Kaleb Johnson. Until he takes over as the #1 RB.

Later in the Season.
1) Kaleb Johnson
2) Jaylen Warren, because Warren knows how to block.
3) Gainwell. Now 3rd string RB.

Currently Kaleb Johnson is Jaylen Warren's backup on running plays if Warren goes down. But not the teams 2nd string RB.

And, I wouldn't count Sermon out either to make an impression when Preseason starts.
