Not good news for a newbie to lose precious time. I feel he was slated into the # 3 spot and still should remain there unless he has a setback.

Rodgers has taken him under his wing and seemed to be excelling.

I was pumped for Saturday night. I was thinking he'd play an entire half.

I'm starting to get a little antsy about this offense.
I don't think Roman Wilson is going to cut it, he has had a number of blown routes with a good catch sprinkled in here and there. Very disappointed.
I know they are visioning Austin as the #2 but the Steelers are more of a 3WR set. I don't think Roman is even #3 (I heard he was moved down on the depth chart but haven't looked nor confirmed.)

As far as Howard, he looks like a #3 rookie thus far but he flashes a great arm and seems to move around the pocket well.
Disappointed about the hand, I didn't see what happened.

As far as defense goes, are they that good or is the offense that bad?
Offense usually takes a little longer to work the bugs out and get that rhythm going.
God help us if Rogers goes down. I guess the condolence is maybe a top 10 pick.

The mood of this camp is very good. It just has a different feel.. maybe that's a good sign.
Preseason games are where I typically like to watch the guys who are new and not starters to see what kind of competition they have in them.
Ideally, I like those guys to push the starters (duh, right?)
But overall, there has to be some sort of chemistry... there's a lot of plays going to be called to put the spotlight on certain players.

Saturday will be the first gauge of how they are doing.
I doubt Rogers sees the field. I always liked when they gave the starters maybe 2 drives and then rotated in the backups.

    Howard is a bust

    Made of glass

Tomlin's fault for having him throwing in camp

Damn! That's going to be a gripping issue for a while as that fully heals. Hope he's a fast healer.

That sucks. We always have the Browns to make us feel better, though. They just signed a fifth QB, Tyler Huntley, because every QB but Flacco is banged up.

yep - it's a bummer, ESP entering pre-season games where he would get lots of live action

not sure he would be #3 beforehand, but now, it's a long shot. He'd stay undressed this year.

hang in there, nervous Nelly, about Wilson. the KID is a player.

the only real serious X factor is that OLINE. if they cannot get it together, we are looking at a losing season

    Book it Dano.

Don't waste your time evaluation pre-season games ;)

You don't really think that players are not evaluated during preseason, tell me that's a joke, right?
Preseason is when you call plays for players you want to look at, surely you're not dismissing that?
If you think I meant wins, that's way off the mark. I am just interested in seeing those spot plays and players who are not starters looking to be an impact as most everyone does.
Only Baltimore thinks wins count in preseason.

Problem is the majority of preseason games is for 2nd and even more so 3rd string/practice squad players. Most of these guys won’t sniff the field for the real games.

Just thinking how Howard's injury will affect the draft cuts (if at all), having missed all preseason games do they still put him on the 53 and keep 4 QB's for a while? Do they just go with him as the 3 QB and hope for the best? They could risk him on PS but the lose in several possible ways, if a team has injuries they could sign him off the PS (doubtful but still possible), or they essentially lose the contract designation.

Think you have to keep him as third and designate Skylar for Practice Squad.

    True.
What you are hoping to find is those players that actually can help your team.
I know that you know, Preseason is not trash. There is a reason for it.

Exactly, the WR from Lousiville has been getting really good reports, not unusual from camp, but the games (even against other 'lower level' talent can assure at least a PS signing, or for him even an opportunity to secure a roster spot.

I would think so as well, the 3rd gets no game experience unless the other 2 go down, if the team gets to that point it's basically hand it off and dink/dunk football, while he woul get some experience in the preseason games it pales to what a team will bring regular season.

    evaluate - yes, sure.

but don't base some pre-season performance and then project out what REG season looks like

    it's fools gold.....for fools.

my bigger point is that it is ALL ABOUT that OLINE. you won't figure that out in 3 pre-season games - #trustME
