Bednar was just traded to the Yankers for three prospects. This looks like a pretty good yield.
C/1B Rafael Flores. Hit well at AA, promoted to AAA a few days ago. Some other very young C/1B, and an outfielder.

He certainly turned it around this year after a bad 2024 and early 2025. Probably best yield at this juncture. Santana seems more than capable as the closer with multiple other options for setup reliever as shown this past week. Catcher Flores they picked up is a big guy at 6-4 and probably spells the end for the disappointing Henry Davis and faltering Joey Bart.

And finally, not a middle infielder in the bunch! The organization was probably running out of places to play them.
All of these prospects will not pan out, of course, but some will. Some are pretty young.
    Hope they move Reynolds.

While he's not lazy, his streakiness reminds me a lot of Starling Marte and how such a talented guy could be so under-performing at times. His return currently is probably lower than it has been in the past. Funny how his no trade clause includes all coastal teams east and west which means he likes more laid back flyover locales.

I am not even worrying about replacing Bednar, the Pirates seem to come up with short relief guys (Melancon, Grilli, Watson, etc.) like the Steelers come up with receivers. They may just keep Santana and slide him in to Bednar’s role.
Yes, Bart and Hank Davis may not be around next year if a catcher develops and is spit out by the farm system. Hank is Skenes’ personal catcher so that might extend his expiration date.
Endy is proving to be injury prone.
