For a left handed reliever and a SS project.
The reliever is on an expiring contract, so that is a bit of a head scratcher.
Nothing about the two players acquired matters. This was a salary dump, and a good one. It opens a roster spot for Cam Devanney or Malcolm Nunez.

I was sure Tommy Pham started playing better to get off team.

I agree that is a move to get Hayes off of the payroll, but come on. A soon to be FA pitcher, and a kid in low A? And yet another middle infielder to boot.

At least switch it up and get an outfielder for god's sake. This bozo is a major disappointment as a GM.

The reliever baffled me. It is the kind of move a contending team might make. Maybe they will flip him in the next 24 hours.
I have no problem with the kid SS. He is a year younger than average for A ball and has pop in hit bat. And the Pirates will be moving infielders further up the food chain.
Mostly interesting thing will be who plays third from here on out. If you throw enough infielders against the wall, surely some will stick.

Glad the low energy Hayes is gone. The SS looks interesting and should be going straight to A+ to finish season. I won't be surprised if Hayes suddenly hits better for Cincy but it was a move that needed to be made.

Well, here's another baffling move - trading Caleb Ferguson for an A ball pitcher. I fail to see how either of these trades addresses the need for offense to take advantage of what is a pretty good pitching staff. Trading Ferguson was expected, but when your minor leagues are bereft of offensive players, getting another pitcher seems like a waste of an asset.

I agree Rogers will be on the move by this time tomorrow.

I agree, I wished for bats, but you are only trading 8 weeks or so of Ferguson, so in that case I guess you don’t necessarily get what you want. Now, Bednar may get you a medium powered outfielder and Keller surely will, although I am not convinced they won’t wait to deal him over the winter.
They will not get a lot for Pham either.
Edit: I saw an opinion from some group that values players that the Reds overpaid for Hayes. Good. You can get a team to overpay if they think they can make the postseason.

It is going to be an interesting 24 hours.

It will be. I'm sure the return for guys like Pham, Heaney, IKF, and Rogers if he's traded, will be less than exciting. That's what rental players bring.

I saw on MLB that Jeter Martinez, who they got for Ferguson, is already the 21st ranked player in the Bucs system..a guy with a 6+ ERA! Damn, is our minor league system that thin on talent?

Now I see the Cubs got Siroka, and are looking at Shane Bieber as well. That will limit the Keller market for sure. Phillies got Duran so that takes them out of the Bednar sweepstakes.

The Red Sox have a logjam in the outfield and need a starter. They would seem to be a perfect fit for a trade with the Pirates. I would drool at having Roman Anthony in the Pirates outfield instead of Reynolds. Peobably ain’t happening though.

Anthony would be a miracle return, I agree, but the likelihood of that happening without Skenes being the return is less likely than me hooking up with some hot actress.

Tick-Tock - the clock is winding down. Really looks like Keller is staying, and Bednar's trade options are drying up quickly. More distressing is that the free agents to be, Pham, IKF, and Heaney, may not move either. That means no extended auditions from the minors for guys like Cook, Yorke, Devanney, etc., and probably no Bubba Chandler audition until late September.
