Being a DB guy, and Defense 1st guy, I'm super freaking excited about this Defense they have put together. If they stay healthy, I believe they can be special.
I know most are all about offense, but If I'm totally honest. I would love seeing us win most 17 -3 games than a 45 - 38 games, but that's just me.

I’ve always loved defense but the league is excessively tilted offensively. They are going to need put up points in order to win games. 1976 Steelers would still be handicapped in Gooddell’s league.

And they can't have another year like 2024 when they only had 40 sacks, it sounds like they're working on being more aggressive this year.

I would like to see us wrapped up games early. My ticker cannot survive many more seasons filled with last minute heroics

The 70's made me a defense first guy. I got PO'd with the rule changes that helped the O. Health will be the key on both sides of the ball.

I sure the hell understand that but in Bens prime about 15-20 of us got together for every game and if Steelers had it sewn up going into 4th quarter a lot would lose interest and start BSing about everything else in life. We enjoyed the close games all holding hands willing them to win. And it worked out more often then not in Bens prime.

If the coverage is more tight,it will also help for the pressure and sacks(the opponents had so many quick pass at the end of 2024,so it was almost impossible to have sacks in this situation)....Need to be more consistant against the run too

health of the defense and how the offense keeps them fresh will be the tell of how good this defense can be. ball control can be used to keep the other team off the field and our defense fresher. we need to score when on offense. even 3's add up but most drives must end in some type of points. the defense will give them opportunities. they have to capitalize on them. play all 3 phases of the game.

I think adding Ramsey and drafting Harmon are gong to be two huge factors in this Defense’s success this year. Ramsey playing in the slot will give us three bonafide CB’s this year and he will take away the quick pass and the middle of the field of the routes that hurt us so much the last few years. Plus Tomlin trusts this guy so we should be more aggressive with blitzes etc. If we revert to being conservative and only rushing four, I believe Harmon will be a significant upgrade over Ogunjobi in allowing us to truly get pressure with just four guys. Ramsey also adds value in run support. This defense should be better all around this year. Would love to see this defense play with a lead, never really saw much of that over the last few years.

I admit,I am more excited about the defense that I was one week ago after reading several reports since that time....I hope they will live up for the hype once the season start and maintain a very good level during the season and against strong offense like Baltimore,bengals,Detroit,Bills....

Let’s see it translate to the field. Defense might have to carry this team.

Defense can be among the best in the NFL. Thing is, Offense has to compliment the Defense this time. If not, expect more of the same.

I still want to know what coaching does to this defense. I think our D scheme is one of the worst in the league. I know you think that's not true but the results kind of speak for themselves. How do we overcome the coaching?

Which scheme would that be??? The one we predominantly ran last year, the one the year before, or the one w
the year before that? Because they haven't been the same.

The results have been dismal. So it appears they all lack something

Last year’s defense was as unimaginative as I have ever seen before from the Steelers dating back nearly 50 years or more. Rush 4, blitz no one and drop a safety 20 yards deep and yet stack the box on 3rd and 18.
