Some of these comments confuse me. Why the hatred toward Patterson? He was a failed signing, but it's not like he wanted to suck. He wasn't a cancer in the locker room. He wasn't a character issue. He just got old. We don't need to hate a guy just because he got old.

Other than Jeh. We can still hate him because he's old.

Thanks. I was pointing out the fact and according to last years snaps he has had alot of time off lol. I was surprised he made it this far. Another signing imho that did not prove to be wise. I am pretty sure AS lobbied to have him here. Perhaps we should start wondering about AS and his ability to choose quality players.

He actually looked good in the limited opportunities he had before getting injured. When he came back from that he just didn’t have it anymore.

I'm sure he knew it was coming some media members were saying they didn't even see him report to camp.

I have nothing against Patterson...he was a good player in his prime. But he's another "reclamation project" in a long line of washed up players Steelers have acquired over the past 5 years. We added a few more this year. This team needs to get younger... not older.

We are getting younger.....while remaining competitive. Think of all the guys on the team that haven't even been here long enough for a contract outside of their rookie contracts.

Players have to realize that their window is very short in the NFL and the career can come to an end at any moment. I don’t think many of them understand that or at least take it seriously.

I agree, but trying to put some spin the this. When Ben retired, Colbert stuck around another year after some horrible crafts. I like Omar, and his drafts look actually promising. The issue in this whole thing is not just admitting we needed a total reboot and start from scratch. I know it's not what we do, but filling the roster with these guys in the last few years has just been the same mediocrity. The drafts have at least put us in a place where we have some depth, but you can't keep doing what you have been and expect miraculous results.

The first single paycheck most of them get is more than they ever earned

And suddenly they think they hit paydirt
