You have to be Matt Canada level of a bad coach for them to get rid of a coach who is still under contract.

Anyone ready for tomorrow's reports for the first padded practice of Training Camp?!

I am personally intrigued to hear how well the likes of Derrick Harmon, Yayha Black and Logan Lee do. Same goes for Kaleb Johnson, Roman Wilson and Mason McCormick as well.

ahh the annual macs scrub crush statement.

it's not just me that has seen his play look good. this is his 3rd year here. why would the team keep such scrubs around? funny you never talk about the scrubs that contribute. just sayin. beanie bishop, roc taylor, cook, pierre, mccollum, waitman. all have contributed to this team and are still here for some reason.

I really wish Bishop and Pierre weren't on the team at this point.

why? bishop played well last year for a rookie and pierre played very well as a gunner on ST's with skowronek. they were one of if not the best gunner tandems in the league last year.

Beanie bishop was forced into a starting role. To say he played well is just flat out wrong. ROC Taylor? He’s never even taken an nfl snap. You’re grasping at straws like 43

One of the YT feeds that found its way to me yesterday and the guy was very excited about Black and Harmon. IDK where Black was lined up, and yes no pads, but in that series of plays he blocked a couple of passes to the ground and was totally disruptive. He said Harmon looked freakish, this is going to be fun to watch for sure.

I can offer no predictions on the Steelers upcoming season but I do have a few observations.

    - There's no doubt about it, the agenda is different. Mike Tomlin and his staff are pushing the envelop by a speedier approach.
    - No idea what Roger's year will be but another certainty, the Steelers are better for having this time with Rogers.
    - Big Ben was a presence, but Rogers is a different sort of animal and he does have a bag full of tricks and tips.
    - Jalen Ramsey is the real deal. His interception of a nice throw by Rogers left a few with oooo's and ahh's.
    - Like Rogers, our players are better with him here. I hope he plays a full season because he is special. Hopefully our DC knows this and I think they have as Ramsey has played everything but QB.. lol.
    - Kaleb Johnson is a nice addition to the RB room. Pads go on, he gets a chance to walk the walk.
    - You really can't tell a lot about the down and dirty when they are in shorts. The athleticisms are on display and some vision. Rogers has that knack of seeing openings and puts the ball there.
    - The injury bug. I am really hoping that thing stays away from us. While there are some interesting players on this 2025 team, I'd like to keep them in the rotational roles learning from the pros.
    - I hope that players like Jones come through this year. Jones does look fit and ready but he's dinged so.... fingers crossed.
    - In pads, some Receivers seem to develop 'alligator arms' as opposed to the practice in shorts. I'm not worried about Metcalf over the middle, that dude is chiseled.
    - With pads on, the staff will get a look at pass protection which also seems to be a theme this year. They need to keep Roger's uniform spotless. I do think that front 7 will make our OL better.

When the pads are on, it could be an entirely different team. I hope not and I am glad pads time is here.
I 'think' Omar will find that he needs to come up with a #2 and I think if one gets let loose this preseason, he has to be decisive. I prefer no trades if at all possible.
That would exclude a Terry McLauren deal if things go south there, which I am not expecting. He is 30... though he shows no signs of wear, I'd prefer to mine one out of the draft rather than make such a trade.

Bishop has an ego and a problem keeping his mouth shut. Complains about having better access to rehab and medical facilities at his college and then gets himself a podcast and proceeds to give his opinion on the team as if he is on Heyward's level and can get away with it. He had a solid 2 game showing with 2 picks in one game and let the talking heads opinion of his skills made him believe he is better than he is. The fact that teams picked on him when he was inserted back into the lineup should have been a wake up call.

Pierre at this point is a serviceable ST guy. When he does see action at CB its a hit and miss prospect. He epitomizes Tomlin's philosophy because he hangs around because of his past performances but how will they ever know if they can do better if they don't try to improve by removing the just OK guys.

I’m left handed, but ✍️ right. It causes mental issue with the more observant when they see me using my left and they have that confused look. And yes, I’m the way I am because of the nuns @ St Mary’s. The devils hand, don’t cha know.

But now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Tomorrow they put the gladiator pads on and we’ll get a better look at what we have. Backs on backers, so we’ll see how ole man Rodgers moves and just as important if he finds his man with a release faster than TJ tapping him on the back, sayin I’m here. Cook may be in protecting Aron’s side, Jones a problem going forward? Cole, wanna see him hit n ensure injury is a complete non issue. DK, multiple catches without the dropsies. Harmon and Ramsey have been impressive, continue beast mode. Sawyer looks good but when the pads come on I look for last years Peyton Wilson to make his presence known. Should be fun!

Pierre is significantly better than just serviceable on special teams. That’s why he has a job. It just helps he can fill in on defense if needed due to injury etc

    2024 Season Statistics:
    Games Played: 14
    Starts: 2
    Total Tackles: 23
    Solo Tackles: 17
    Passes Defensed: 3
Interceptions: 1 (against Jameis Winston in Week 14)
Special Teams Tackles: 11 (9 solo)

I don't know those stats don't scream anything more than average to me. However just my opinion and that is colored a lot by his up and down play at CB.

Did you mean to quote Mac's post here? Won't get any fight from me on Bishop his legend was bigger than he was.

I'm glad they didn't run it back with Bishop in the slot, Ramsey is a lot more versatile and should be an upgrade.

What are they looking for? Maybe it's normal to just keep bringing in UDFAs like this. Idk, I just like to watch the games.

I thought I was going to have to throw in the Towel on Thomas-Jones, and switch to JJ Galbreath.

On what shots I can get of #87 he has looked good in the 1st week. Hopefully they can keep JJ Galbreath around and have him put on another 20 pounds before next year.

Two first rounder, a second rounder and a prized FA pickup a couple years ago. If he can’t make that work then he is Matt Canada level of bad.

Yea that was my point earlier. Steelers have given this guy a ton of resources with little results.
