ESPN is nearing a deal to acquire NFL media, according to a report from Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.

The deal would include ESPN landing the content for NFL Network, as well as NFL Red Zone.

I assume this will require ESPN+, so I will sorely miss the Redzone because I am not paying ESPN a dime. They will certainly ruin it, anyway.

This seems like the tail wagging the Dog. ESPN has been firing anyone and Everyone to save salary. I just don't see this happening, and I am not sure why the NFL would sell off anything right now.

It would make more sense for the NFL to be buying out ESPN from Disney.

Traditional Network broadcasting like ESPN is just getting hammered right now by the internet pod cast videos. I wonder how NFL+ stacks up against ESPN+

ESPN obviously has a lot more than football. I mean, where else are you going to be able to watch the MS excel world championship along with the pillow fighting championship?

OK this makes more sense. NFL to BUY ownership in ESPN.

Now for all you Crazy Nuts out there like myself; I would assume this would give the NFL more control over what is allowed to be reported on ESPN. :)

They pretty much already control it. Did You forget the 2003 TV Show: Play Makers that had wonderful success, but the NFL didn't like how it was being portrayed, and made them shut it down, or No coverage of the NFL???
