Idk. I respected Al Davis on several fronts and I'm a John Madden fan. Both are synonymous with the Raiders to me.

I would love to still have that rivalry today.

So this is not a team awards now?

Btw in 2023,it was a weak race for the MVP...I mean you were never able to said your choice for the MVP in the 2023 season, the only answer you had for that year it was not Lamar Jackson.Mahomes did not win the MVP in 2024 because his stats was not as good that the other players in the top 5

It's either a team award, or it's a popularity contest.
There are no excuses for why they took the 5th best guy. The only real excuses you can make is.....one....it's a team award, and His team won one whole game more than the other Qb that could have won it.., or two....it's a popularity contest, but the last two years have clearly shown its not the best player that year award......no freaking matter how you try making excuses.

If you want to complain about a MVP result, just look at the 1987 season when Elway win the MVP despite not being in the top 5 in TD,or in the top 10 in passing rating...If you compare those stats with Joe Montana,it was a complete joke that Elway win the MVP

I agree. That's why I laugh when people point to the MVP , or when they say it's an individual award.

You call that a individual awards or popularity contest because the last 2 winner of the mvp was running QB according to your criteria

I ask a question. I can guarantee that the 5th best guy didn't deserve it, just because he had one whole more win on his teams record, but we , and I mean everyone knows you are a Lamar fan, and will try, and defend him , even when you truly know in your head it's wrong.

That has nothing to do with it, and You keep asking about 2023.....I said earlier in the thread if it was about a true individual award J. Allen would have won it in 2023 is he not a running Qb. You and others should really stop try to be Miss Cleo, or Sherlock Holmes, because You people suck at both. Read what I say, don't try reading beyond it.

The problem for Allen in 2023,he had too many turnovers(22 turnovers) and Lamar had a huge edge in passing rating too that year over Allen...In 2024,I admit,it was the first time since I watch the NFL that I was very surprise by the MVP result....I was sure that Lamar was going to win...It has to be the best runner up season for the MVP in Nfl history

Seems to me the MVP award has become a QB award. That said, how does Jalen Hurts not win MVP last season?

I think you’re saying “or” when it’s really “and.” It is a popularity contest, and it’s based on winning, and it’s based on stats - the gaudier the better. I agree that it’s not necessarily about who is the best player, and it’s also not about who is the most valuable player to his team or Watt would have won it a few years ago when he had 22.5 sacks and carried a faltering team to a playoff birth.

I agree, and it also seems if it was really an individual award, Burrow would have easily won it last year, but because it's a team award, he didn't. You put any other Qb in my opinion on that team last year, and they never win 9 games. He had the most overall tds, and most overall yards not his fault his D sucks. Hell it's a bull$hit regular season award anyway, crazy thing is .....some players make the HOF strictly on it.

Baseball has the same argument every year also. Should the MVP be the best player on the team with the best record or given to the player who has the best stats on a lesser team. I remember when Andre Dawson hit 49 homers and drove in 148 runs for the last place Cubs and won the MVP. A lot of sports writers complained that if Dawson would have hit zero home runs the Cubs still would have finished last.

Burrow would been considered but he would not won that easily....Just look at the overall stats of Lamar,it was historic. The ravens had also a awful pass defense for the first 10 games and they were still winning a lot of game as winning 3 games despite the defense gave up 30 points or more

The MVP is the best players who is among the best teams in the league, this is not hard to understand.....It take both.Lamar has been robbed last year

Baseball is different....The QB is way more important in football. In baseball, you hit only 4-5 times per game

The MVP is always at the QB position unless a RB has a historic season
