    Never.

No seriously, Pittsburgh has never had a player that one could constitute as a Franchise Caliber Left Tackle.

They kept wanting to replace Max and then when the couldn’t they would have to re sign him

Guy made $28 M being average

Still seems like a nice guy

We have to get BroJo and Fautanu in actual games and see what's what. It's not going to matter even a little bit what other guys did at those positions years ago. I felt like when we had AV at LT and Gilbert at RT we were pretty strong at OT. But I feel like that was pre-Covid, so it's been a minute.

Possible the steelers would win the SB in 2010 if Max would been healthy...Jonathan Scott was hot garbage as LT,likely the worst starting LT in steelers history. This is him or Mike Adams

While that is a risk the Steelers have shown they won't option an average or even good player (ref. Harris).

I always liked Max even though he is a gator. Seems like a good dude.

If we could get Marvel Smith level play out of Jones this season, I think we'd all be very happy. I'd be happy with AV level play as well. Is that too much to ask?

He would be about the closest thing.

That said though, even nabbing a good Left Tackle in today's NFL is very difficult to achieve. As I have said many times, even average Offensive Tackles are gonna get paid. This statement isn't towards you but for the rest of those who don't believe this statement?!

Check up on Dan Moore. Average Left Tackle who is Top 10 among Left Tackles in terms of how much he makes. That is how insane the lack of even quality Offensive Lineman play is in the NFL; doubly so tackles.

    Good ones yes.

Franchise Caliber though?! Closest one was John Kolb. No one else would qualify.

that would be great. i hope jones keeps working on not only his game but his body. you can't make it in this league as a big ol' tub o' goo. i really do hope the steelers don't settle and complete the additions to this line next draft and maybe they are already here.

we really need a leader on this unit. jones did show me a little bit of that last year. he was said to have worked on his body some this off-season. both good things. frazier and mccormick should step forward in this role as well. hopefully anyway. leaving our Samoan connection to quietly excel. i wouldn't mind if they extended seumalo a couple of years as our vet leader.

hopefully these new young guys they acquired in reserve do step up into helpful roles. this is probably the best case scenario for advancement of any team in the league for a young guy wanting to become a solid player. both trenches have openings for those that are hungry and want to succeed. it's sitting right in front of them.
