Is there any chance that the Steelers did not like something they saw in 34-year-old Darius Slay at OTAs that made the Jalen Ramsey trade happen?

"Hey Darius, you have to find another gear, or we are going to be in big trouble."

Recent writeup saying he has a gimpy knee he had surgerized last season. He also had multiple nicks throughout the season but still got on the field. Probably a ticking time bomb....

i think it's just to bolster the whole defensive backfield. extended elliott. signed thornhill. signed slay. signed ramsey. signed echols. pierre was brought back as well but for ST's mainly but could help him. this can also help castro, kent, porter, trice, bishop. out are sutton, edmunds, fitzpatrick, kazee, jackson.

Ramsey is a question mark for me, especially at 30. If he can be the competitive shutdown player we've seen him be at times during his career, that would be awesome. But what about his mouth and attitude that he's also become known for? When you're on your 4th team in 10 years, it raises an eyebrow. Cautiously optimistic.

Said this before about Ramsey, he is a head case, not as bad as Pickens but does have some issues. He has been like that with every team he was on. We shall see.

When the season ends Darius Slay will be 35. How many starting CBs in the league are 35?

They had to learn something from watching Patrick Peterson struggle in 2023. Funny Note, Slay and Peterson are the same age, and Petrson retired after the 2023 season playing for Pittsburgh.

I think Khan may regret that 1 year $10 million contract he gave to Slay.

I hear what You are saying, but as a one year contract, I don't think you regret that.

If Slay struggles they have some insurance with Ramsey on the team now.

6 minute informal press chat with Jalen Ramsey, posted 23 July.

I like a lot of what he says. He stayed pretty vague about how they plan to use him. You can also see that he has some feelings about the trade, but did not elaborate on them.

He said that he just wants to play football and seemed sincere about it to me. He also commented that he thinks he is being paid the money that he is being paid to be in certain spots.....I read into that that he understands he is there to make plays.

Overall, I thought that he was pretty well spoken and has a good head on his shoulders. He danced around things he should not talk about, he did not bash anyone or talk about how great he would be. Good humility and respectful to the reporters. I like him from seeing this interview and think that this is a guy that is going to show up to work and do his job as well as he can.

No matter who coached, Cowher or Tomlin, never played tight man to man coverage at LOS:facepalm:

I agree - always wanted to see tighter coverage. Having said that, Brady carved up our zone-blitz like a Thanksgiving turkey.
