Ok, I've all bit convinced myself what will happen Thursday night, and this is how it will happen- as of this moment there are 3 teams behind us ( Vikes 9 ers and Falcons) who have publicly stated their intent to move up in the draft. We sit at 17 which is not great for them, but should allow each team to move up to get who they want. So, we move down in the 1st into the mid 20s, and pickup at least an extra 3rd & 4th ,or maybe a 2nd& 3rd? Regardless, we move down and still take somebody that fills a need. Day two we truly make splash in this draft. I still see us taking the safety with that 1st round pick, and I can't spell his name or say it but I believe it's Cyprien??? after that its game on. If the FO does not trade down it is only because they want Jones and he is there at 17. FO, que the music, its time to dance! So, that's my prediction-

Well, Colbert said in the press conference today....

Souns more like a "trade down, acquire more picks" than anything else......

It sure sounds like that is his preference, move down and get more picks. That being said, they have 6-8 identified as special...if one of them is there, they will take them.

Tank Carradine is SHOOTING up draft boards. He's the best 4-3 DE in this class. When I was putting my first round mock together (just posted) I wanted to put him in the 10-15 range but didn't see a good fit.

If he's there at our pick I could see someone wanting to make a deal to get ahead of the Giants. Atlanta has stated they want to move up and they have big needs at CB and DE... I have us trading with them so they can grab Carradine.

Might not be related, but I could see Cowboys jumping ahead of us and the Rams to try to snag Vaccaro...

Yesterday Jerry Jones said something like, 'the Cowboys were more inclined to trade down then trade up' due to depth in certain positions, but you never know I guess.

there are alot of teams that want to move down too. it depends who's there and it may not even be in the first. http://www.steelers.com/news/article-1/At-LB-its-hype-vs-drama/dfbceef8-54aa-4408-90e2-c71ff4f7378f

this was on the main page today. it is pretty telling of our style. labs i think hit it pretty close in this article. if mingo is there, will they go? i believe they will.

colberts already said the first 3 picks have no urgency to play this year.

    what positions are those?
OLB? we have that covered for this year.
ILB? we have that covered, but half is old.
S? it's covered, but old and very very thin.
CB? it's covered but needs an eventual starter.
WR? we have that covered for this year.
    TE? we have that covered.
RB? we could use a starter but it is covered with 3 young guys.
OL? we need depth, but there was a mention of max starks coming back. do we need a LT? LG? time will tell here, but for now covered.

it's anyones guess right now, but we usually don't get wild with picks. we draft good and safe normaly. we have needs and are building, but are not in dire straits yet. more picks may be an option, and a good one.

I still think they go with Cooper or Warmack in the first round. Foster is here and for the most part reliable, but I would much rather have him as insurance than the starting LG. If our offense is going to remain true to what we saw last year we need a solid OL and one of those two would pay immediate dividends.

with our depth issues at different positions. jones would be a nice pick. i think they like winters too. he's another guy that can play either tackle or guard. pugh could be another. any of these guys could compete to start and add a ton of depth where we are weak. the backup center spot is important though, so it may be a center guard type. all of which we can get after rd.1. cooper he some position flexability, but warmack not so much. rd. 2 or 3 could reap some O-line dividends. thats when everyone else is going after wr's and rb's. we could sneak in and grab a good one. i'm still not ruling beachum out though.

You and I have been down the Beachum road once or twice before. :lolol: Once they resigned Foster I think it's pretty clear their intended use for Beachum is that of a backup. YATE(yet another Trey Essex)
