Bednar - still scary but just named NL reliever of June. Hope springs eternal?

"David Bednar started April in the minor leagues. He ended June as the National League reliever of the month.

The Pittsburgh Pirates closer earned the honors after recording five saves and not allowing an earned run in 10 appearances last month. Bednar had 16 strikeouts against three walks and gave up four hits in 10 innings."

I think it's Falter, Burrows and Skenes against those Mariners. 2 of 3 would be great.

Rowdy Tellez was a free agent. Had 11 homeruns and was hitting a tad above the Mendoza line. Should have signed him

I can see it now - "Pirates first team in MLB history to pitch 3 straight shutouts......and then suffer 3 straight shutouts against them". With Skenes pitching today, highly probable. Sad. We just had our post season last Friday to Wednesday. Back to the annual fire sale.

They need to follow Washingtons lead and can Cherington immediately.
Do not pass go, do not collect $200 (that'll please Bob), and don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya'.

They CANNOT let this imbecile conduct the draft, or make any trades. we'd wind up with more middle infielders and scrub relievers.

I have thought that on many occasions. That it might be a blessing more than a curse.

You can't make this stuff up. And to think I was almost joking when I predicted it.:facepalm::facepalm:

"Pittsburgh had just come off an incredible homestand, where they swept both the New York Mets, June 27-29, and the St. Louis Cardinals, June 30-July 2, at PNC Park.

They scored 43 runs over the six games, including nine runs twice and a season-high 12 runs vs. the Mets on June 29, while adding 13 runs vs. the Cardinals. They also only allowed four runs vs. the Mets and none vs. the Cardinals, outscoring their two opponents 43-4.

That marked the most runs scored over a six-game span with less than five runs allowed in MLB history.

The Pirates also made history again, becoming the first MLB team ever that shutout another team over a three-game series and then followed that up with their opponent shutting them out in another three-game series, according to OptaStats."

Odd, I'm guessing you don't live in the Burgh or you wouldn't need it. You are the only person I know who has this problem but don't worry you ain't missing anything.

I`m ready for some trades, sick of this group except the starting pitchers. Going to have to move Keller to get a real suspect/prospect hitter. At least move on from Pham, Triolo, and Hayes. Might need to package Bednar with Hayes and a few dollars to get some team to take that contract.
