Where do folks think we stand now?

Defense, I think we can work with what we have to go all of the way. We have some great players and decent depth.

On offense, Rodgers, the O-line and WR are the questions. If Rodgers can put up another year similar to 2024, he will be fine. WR will largely depend on Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin. Need them to both step up. We also have a great group of TEs to help on the WR pressure. I think that our O-line will be much improved as a lot of those guys got some needed experience under their belts now. They have to give Rodgers some time. Is our offense of SB quality? My opinion is colored by a lot of years where we have been unable to score points. But this year, so much has changed. New QB, new WR#1, new top TE, new (hopefully better) RB, more experience. My brain says vast improvement, but my gut says that the Steelers can't score points.....lol.....I can see us winning a playoff game, but getting past the Bills/Chiefs/Ravens/Broncos/Chargers? The offense has to produce touchdowns this year.

The area that actually worries me most is coaching. Are we going to continue with a game plan that relies on our defense to hold other teams to a score that we can match (less than 24ish points)? Or are we going to try and light it up this year? Our conference has a lot of high scoring teams in it. Some of those high scoring teams not only put more points up than we did, but also allowed fewer points against them than we did. Our game plan has to prioritize scoring more IMO.

The part in red answers the title question

I think they can be better than last year

I would not make them a top SB contender

Just bump it after camp and see if the answers change

Nothing wrong with asking it now

It’s not like we are overrun here with stimulating conversations :smiley1:

1)Just curious who do you have playing and starting at Free Safety right now?
2)We only have 2 starting D-Line with NFL #1 Depth Chart Experience. (Cam and Keeanue)

I am one of the people who believe Harmon will struggle this year because of his injury and lack of NFL experience.

Derrick Harmon, the Pittsburgh Steelers' first-round draft pick, had a shoulder injury revealed during the NFL Combine, specifically a partial rotator cuff tear and a labral tear. Despite this, the Steelers drafted him, believing the injury wasn't a major concern.

Cam's first year was a disappointment as he struggle with the NFL game despite being a 1st round pick.

QUESTION: What have the Steelers done this offseason to STOP the Ravens from rushing for 299 yards against them in a Playoff game?

I think the key for us is run the ball, play defense, don`t ask Rodgers to do too much.

We have a chance to repeat last year`s performance or slightly better IMO.

    Not posted for ages.

Lots of variables. Lots of new pieces some young some older experienced heads.

Standing here in July I'm glad we've shaken up the roster a bit and created a wave or two. It might be just what we need to push us over a line that we've been stuck on for years. I said last pre season that a play off win would be decent progress. I know some want more but if we can get that play off win next Jan... let's see.

Guaranteed the Steelers will have some home run RUNS this season.
Najee was good at one thing, that was not getting injured but he ran like he had a board up his behind, was slow and had no vison at all.

Most of the outcome of the season obviously rides with Rodgers . We could use another WR but will see what Jonnu brings .
I don't really like Arthur Smith though. Hopefully he has most of his players in now .

    They drafted Derrick Harmon

    Per Derrick

“I don’t know man, I’m fully healthy ready to go,” he said. “I don’t have no concerns. I’m ready to get to work.”

The defence should be good enough, I expect a top 10 unit, maybe even top 5 if the offence can complement them

The offence is one huge question mark. New QB, new backfield, new WR group and a young Oline with Fautanu essentially a rookie.

It would be optimistic in the extreme to expect the offence to be a high performing group.

To make a playoff run the Defence will need to buck their recent trend by playing well down the stretch. The Offence needs to run the ball well and put up 20 points upwards week to week

The big issue of course is that it’s really difficult to win with defence against Mahomes, Allen and Lamar in January

Are you basing this on his years of NFL experience??? Wanna Bet?

I have seen this way too many times when a player claims they don't need surgery until right before the season starts, and they realize that when the pads come on they can't "Tuff It Out" anymore and play through their injury.

The medical exams say it is an injury, the player says it is nothing to be worried about. Only time will tell what is right.

Thanks doc. You still haven’t explained why you were so up in arms that we didn’t sign Jaire Alexander, Mr. Half- season himself. Your medical “cred” has taken a hit.

I think the key to the season, will be how well our tackles play. If they play up to their draft status, I think that the sky could be the limit.
