Well, Khan better get to work if they're all in because we're still waiting for WR2.

Ramsey would move Slay to the slot. This would upgrade Bishop and allow him to not be abused there while he learns. Porter and Ramsey outside, Slay and Thornhill rotation at slot, and Minkah and Elliott at Safety. Not a bad group to continue a rebuild from, IMO.

Fair point. The only thing we can question is whether taking a shut down CB should be a priority over linemen. Very hard to get and keep those on the team.

Just my opinion maybe but if you don't control the line of scrimmage, not much else matters.

He was among those that said the Steelers wouldnt pursue him as well. He was bound to get one of the outcomes right.

I agree, but on D, a great set of DBs can help you control the line of scrimmage, and help make a team one-sided. Just making a Qb hold the ball for just one second longer can work wonders for Your D line, and LBs.

If the DL is weak, they will just run on you.

And a great defensive front can shorten the amount of time that the secondary needs to cover.

If they had kept George Pickens I would say the Steelers were all in.

But, they are about to pass off Roman Wilson with ZERO NFL catches, and Calvin Austin who is on his 4th year of his NFL contract with a total of 53 catches as the Steelers #2 and Slot WRs.

That is really not going all in for a Super Bowl run with Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin as WR #2. There is a reason why Aaron Rodgers was trying to go somewhere else this offseason. Talent wise the Steelers offensive weapons right now are miles behind the 2024 Jets.

I believe Khan goes down as a complete disaster of a GM. The Steelers running Kenny Picket and Mason Rudolph in 2024 was a huge mistake. Arthur Smith after getting the OC job immediately commented on how much he was looking forward to working with these young QBs. Khan's inability to bring back Justin Fields and instead sign another over the hill QB is just another example of him chasing fools gold.

Are you saying the 2023 QBs were good enough to challenge for a title? It didn't look that way to me.
Smith was good designing an offense that masked Fields worst weakness. Problem came when teams started adjusting. Fields was not an accurate deep ball passer.

There are still 11 weeks to go before week 1 and the front office has draft capital and cap flexibility to work with. I’d be personally very surprised if there aren’t some moves made when the time is right and as other teams figure out their rosters and make players available.

I believe you are being harsh on Khan. He took over a depleted roster, devoid of any depth after the 2022 draft and had no choice but to give Pickett his opportunity.

If we use Colberts last two drafts in 2021 & 2022 as an example of what Khan inherited the only two contributors left are Austin and Freiermuth, neither of whom are needle movers. Those drafts should be the foundation of the team, and if we go back further to 2020, 2019 and 2018 it’s even worse. That is not to place the blame all on Colbert.

It’s too early to make a call on Khan because the job he has to do was so massive that it was always going to take multiple off seasons. It takes time to build a team. Personally I like what he is doing by prioritising the two lines, even if we argue that it hasn’t worked so far we can see a process and a plan.

Pickens, talent yes, personality no. By all accounts he was a toxic, negative presence in the locker room, was late for meetings and even games and had to go. It is what it is, and I’m assuming it was a team decision where Tomlin and the staff wanted him out of there.

We will see where the QB dice lands with Rodgers. It’s frustrating. We are in the same predicament as the Colts and a handful of other teams where we just can’t seem to land on the right guy after a swing in the draft. I expect they will target the draft in 2026 again. I’m not overly upset about losing Fields to NY to be honest, he isn’t that good IMO

or a great d-line hurries a qb into throwing before he wants to and helps the DB's. i think we are set more for this. or that is their thinking. when our pass rush doesn't get there our secondary struggles. it's a catch 22. shut down corners are not very common. porter isn't one for sure. i think he can be a good #2 but we need a 1 still.

now on the d-line i think we are seeing that our #1 isn't getting the help that we paid for from our #2. that may be changing. we may be in for new #1 and 2 sooner rather than later. they may not be what we once had so the DB's will have to be better. is that in MT's thinking? good question.

Maybe. Same was said about Metcalf and now he’s a Steeler.

The difference is Metcalf is in his prime and they knew they were going to sign him to a long-term deal, with Ramsey not so much.
