A different view of creating a 3 rd mock!!!

There are a few guys there that I wouldn't touch anywhere near where they are projected to go: #1 Jamie Collins looks to me like he has huge bust potential. When I watch him on tape it seems like he just stands up and looks around before deciding where to go. His physical ability is great, but he looks like a project mentally. #2 Brandon Jenkins looks like a 5th rounder or later. There's potential there, but on tape he looks like a flat-out liability in run support and his pass rush is easily handled by opposing tackles at least 90% of the time. #3 Alex Okafor looks like a one position player to me - left DE in a 4-3. If he added 25 lbs. he may be a good 3-4 DE candidate, but I don't see the athleticism to be a 3-4 OLB.

One guy who is really underrated is Chase Thomas, and I could see him as a viable 3rd rounder for us if we do not take an OLB earlier.

 

The more I read and the more I watch, I am convinced John Simon will be a Steeler if he is there in the 3rd round.

 

Maybe even the 2nd if they are truly sold. He sold me as a pass rusher and run stopper on film. I'll trust our staff to have determined whether he can also handle coverage, because there's no film that I can find that shows him doing that. I am looking for high football IQ guys this year. We need guys who are going to see the field. He seems to fit the bill.

I see Chase Thomas as possibly being a backup plan if we miss out on Simon.
