Has anyone noticed Heath isn't getting thrown to much in games lately? Maybe it is nothing but the last 3 games Miller has had trouble catching the ball and now it looks as if Saunders may be getting ready to take over. While I don't think there is a big problem I do think there is something happening as Miller used to catch the passes that were high and he has missed 3 catchable balls the last 2 weeks and it is like once he misses a pass they don't throw to him anymore. Is it me or does it seem like they are trying to stay away from Heath, even the screens they aren't trying to use him, or maybe I'm paranoid.

Haven't checked the stats but from memory, it seems like Heath's last really productive game was against the Pats. Maybe he's hurt and doesn't want to admit it. Is his contract coming up? Hope he's ok because he's a weapon we'll need in the playoffs.

Could the concussion from last year have anything to do with it ?

I don't think there is anything wrong. Again it is the play calling, something we have been complaining about all year.

Forgive me for this, but it's BA's fault. He very rarely ever gameplans around the TE. The few times he has (Colts a few years ago in the playoffs, Pats this year), we have had tremendous success. Heath needs to be more involved. He has great hands and knows how to get open but apparently BA would rather see him blocking.

No, Saunders isn't going to take over for Miller. Saunders caught 1 touchdown and a pass in this game and people are ready to crown him the next Gronkowski.

Miller isn't used in our offense because BA thinks its a better idea to throw to Brown, Sanders and Wallace all the time. This is a collection of evidence over the entire season. The team seems to want to mold Brown, Sander and Wallace into the next great possession receivers of the team, yet they are never going to fill that role.

Great job by our running game to punch in those redzone touchdowns, otherwise we would have seen a lot of lob passes to Brown and Sanders in the corners of the endzone.

It seems lately whenever Miller catches the ball, he gets blasted by 2-3 defenders.

Why would we throw to Heath, he's a TE. It's dumb to throw to a TE 10 yards up the field when you can throw a rarely successful bomb to Wallace 50 yards up the field.

Besides, GB, NO and NE use their TE a lot in the passing game. We don't really want to have an offence like any of those teams do we?

I think BA and Ben have it right this time. No need to involve a TE in the passing game.

i thought our TE's had a good day sunday. as long as they are open and blocking i could care less about the name on the back of the jersey. if heath is aquiring that much attention then someone else is open and thats a good thing.

This happens every year. We use Heath in a game and he is a superstar and then, for whatever reason goes through their noggins, we go away from Heath. Sometimes it seems to me that we have a successful game and the coaches go, "WOW! We were successful so that means that we should try something totally different next time!". I'm sure there is some logic in there somewhere.

remind me, did we not just put up 35 on the #6 defense in the league?

Also, where are the haters on the WR screen which provided the Wallace score? Yes it only works roughly 50% of the time, and when it fails it makes you want to :frustrated: but when it does it seems to be a 7-15 yard gain... just saying..

What's wrong with Heath Miller? I think the only thing wrong with Miller is that he doesn't have a twin brother who could play for the Steelers as well. I would keep Miller over any tight end in the NFL. Including the new "TEs" around the league who are mostly WR who are too slow and fat to play on the outside, and can't block.

it actually was a wr screen. he steps back and catches the pass then runs it like it was a slant.

i am one that doesnt care for those screens either. saying they work 50% of the time is being generous.

No it wasn't. It was also set up by a mirror screen on Ben's left side

I think the issue with the screen pass is that it appears defenses read it, easily. For example, Suggs snagged and INT off of one, a Bengals defender almost got an INT off of one, yesterday (fortunately just deflected), and any other time it seems the DBs are playing up on the line and immediately tackle the catch. This is my perception. It's not a bad play per se... Maybe it's just an issue of WHEN they call it.

I would like to see them audible in the screen pass and have the receiver fake to take the screen pass, then shoot out into open space behind the CB (who is often playing tight to the line on these plays).

It is actually a high percentage play but the problem with it is everyone involved needs to do their job, one missed block and it is over.

I can't believe this is a thread. We have 7 playmakers on offense. They're not all gonna make plays every week. Heath will get his # called when he has the favorable match up. 7 playmakers. 1 ball.

Nothing's wrong with Heath. He still gets open and catches the ball, and still blocks like a beast. The question should be, What's wrong with the offense who won't involve him more? I don't know the answer, but it's been going on since 2005. This is not news.

That being said, Saunders is an excellent threat and a decent blocker and is absolutely ready to take over -- for David Johnson. For the talent we have on this offense, 1/11th of it should not be taken up by David Johnson. Take him out of the picture and replace him with a RB, a WR, or our other TE. All fantastic options.
