  2. No. Mason wouldn't have been much different

So throwing over the middle. Seems to be an issue.

There's a phrase: "Don't throw late to the middle of the field." That often produces a bad outcome.
There's other bad things that can happen.
Throwing the Receiver into a collision. Collisions cause injuries and collisions cause fumbles.
Tipped passes. Those are bad for obvious reasons.

The highest percentage pass and safest for more than say 15 yards is to the sideline.
When the receiver protects the sideline (not allowing the defender to get inside) this allows for 3 angles to the ball.
With a good throw, there's usually only two outcomes, the target catches the ball or the target doesn't.

Rogers throws pretty decent to the middle... I just spent time watching clips of 544 TD passes.
He pretty much hits them from any angle.
What I particularly like is how he positions himself with very good alignment with the receiver.
He doesn't throw many picks, that's for sure.

I also like that inside slant and/or seam - quick hitter. Several of those went for TDs and many for long gains.

Lastly, Rogers is a master of the huddle.
Arthur Smith is going to have to stress quick and smooth because if Rogers see a defender(s) slacking to get to the side lines, he loves to quick snap.
It would be aggravating to draw offsetting penalties.
Rogers is a lot like Montana as he sees all the details.. defenders coming up with a limp, confused defenders, etc.... Audibles are a way of life for him.
People that find their way into this offense and do not know the playbook will cost us.....

This article is tough man...... I don't have an issue with your sharing this.. I am more tearing into a idiot writing opinions - Ritchie Witt.

Man, that sucks. Who is Ritchie Witt? He undermines his crappy attitude in the next passage.

So they've been working together to figure out how to make an offense work with a QB? lol..... I imagine that's exactly what Andy Reid did with Mahomes.... "NO behind the back passes." I can't imagine them signing Rogers and telling him "we're going to run the T formation."

Personally, I see it as Rogers told them he would sign but issues also own a piece of his mind right now with Family and cancer. (Ok, Rogers in the isolation chamber was wild... but even I need that from time to time but I go out to sea.)

I like the fact that he has been working with Smith... I think that's great.
I kind of also see it as "If we're going to be successful, then you have to be successful. Let's figure out our strengths."

Some writers need clicks, and I did just that... :)

You prefer Fields who can scramble but struggle when he has to stay in the pocket. That game against Dallas was a winnable game but Fields struggled to score enough points, Dak threw two interceptions and Fields didn't have to face Micah Parsons.

It was a bad game, his worse game by far with us but in the Dallas game, the turnovers by Dallas was all deep in the steelers territory. It prevent more the cowboys to score points that help the steelers to score points....In the second half, the steelers still score 2 TD on 3 drives on offense but only 3 drives in a half is very few in the NFL...I agree that the first half was poor

Of course,I prefer QB like Stafford over Fields since he is a much better QB but in general, mobility is very important and this is a big asset if the QB is able to throw too

Anyway,I hope Rodgers surprise me,I think this is possible but I don't want to put the hope too high too!

There is risk throwing over the middle, but the offense is too easy to defend if you don't do it often enough. I still think they told Pickett to avoid taking risks at all costs except when the team needed a score or two late in the fourth quarter. I suspect they handcuffed Fields in a similar manner.

MTs philosophy is to limit turnovers at any cost and win an ugly low scoring game. It can get you 9/10 regular season wins but will never make you an actual contender come playoff time.

Pretty well established that turnover margin determines the outcome of games. +1 wins 70% of the time; +2 jumps to winning 84% of the time; ≥3 wins 90% of the time

The Steelers problem in the playoffs is that teams are very good at limiting turnovers. The Steelers last six playoff games they've lost or tied the turnover margin in 4 games. Only playoff they won the TO was against KC, but the offense was so pathetic they couldn't take advantage.

    Spot on.
A good portion of that was Matt Canada.
I get some of his logic, "Rookie QB, throw safer passes" etc...
But his offense was unimaginative and did not play to the strengths of the personnel. I don't care how the Steeler organization tries to defend that mess.
We could have drafted Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and Canada would have sunk both.
    Water under the bridge.

Rogers likes those wheel routes, Drags and slants... Smith should incorporate that.
Canada had no idea how to clear the middle with a drag route or pull a LB with a zone flood (Force him to make a decision)

I can't really give the Jets any credit. They suck at everything.
It's hard to get a good read on a QB when along with the ball being snapped to him he gets a defender in his face.
Watching all those TD's (28) he pulled off some magic.
I just hope he has enough gas left in the tank.

we have one training camp. do they then go back to what howard likes or mason likes or the draft pick likes? my problem isn't with rodgers, it's the approach to the rest of the team. our young line is trying to get it together and adding even more to them could slow that progression. then next year change it up again. no continuity. we have the two new big dogs in DK and rodgers and the rest of the team has to adjust to them. neither have come in to practice much to let the rest of the team know how to play with them. this will then change again next season. almost like learning a new offense every year, which is tough on vets but these young guys really could become confused with this. there are quite a lot of newbies and young players on this offense.

i keep hearing laughingstock. The browns and raiders still play in the nfl. They are a laughingstock. Steelers at least compete. Tomlin does stink though.

a little more about the offense and when this began and who it's catered too. as it says not so much to the other QB's. pretty much all in on one shot. sure hope he stays healthy.

Turnover differential is certainly important but if you play scared and not to lose come playoff time against good teams you get smashed.
