I've wondered more than once why Rodgers would step down to a $10-$15M level of salary, without just going vet minimum. Guy's already cashed $381M from his football career alone - he's had promotional deals with State Farm, Adidas, Fanatics, Taylor Made, to name a few.

I don't personally care that he's got a contract that could pay him $13-$19M - the Steelers have the cap room. It just doesn't make sense to say you don't care about the money, but still play for "10 M's" as he put it. Going all the way down to the minimum would've been more resounding if his intention was to show that he was only coming back for the love of the game and one more shot at a Super Bowl, and the extra $10-$15 M's is a drop in the bucket to what he's banked.

Instead, in typical Rodgers fashion, he's made it about himself in other ways - trolling the Jets and his release, reporters making stuff up, and speaking to the personal issues he was navigating. I don't recall hearing him say anything this offseason that spoke to his passion for playing, let alone for any of the potential franchises he was considering.

I'm sure he'll have a presser at some point soon; we'll see how that goes. In the meantime it's just another one of those Rodgers quirks.

Outstanding job by khan. You don't break the bank and a bunch of incentives that, if accomplished, will have the steelers offense rollin.

It's a status thing. By saying it's not about the money he can spin the narrative that he is humble and it's all about winning and getting back to the Superbowl. However the reality is he doesn't want to look like a broken down, aging QB who gets the league minimum and looks like he doesn't know when to hang up his cleats. It's not about the money but he is still Aaron freaking Rodgers and he gets 20 million a year.

It's like his draft year still. Ben's draft year he is stranded in the green room for hours until the Steelers picked him. No thought to how awkward it was showing him alone in there. Following year Rodgers goes almost the whole first round without being selected and the get him a hotel room so they dont have to show him being snubbed team after team. It's like he wants everyone to know he is the 20 million QB in the room now.
