I’m going to walk up the street and have a negroni

 

Not a huge Negroni fan, but I was addicted to Martinis for awhile. A bar fly at a place I played at turned me on to them back in the day.

 

Back in the late 90's when vodka was coming out with infused flavors like strawberry, the crew at the bar I worked at came up with a vodka drink.

• 1/2 ounce Stoli Orange vodka
• 1/2 ounce Stoli Peach vodka
• 1/2 ounce Stoli Raspberry vodka
• 1/2 ounce Stoli Strawberry vodka
• 3 oz. Cranberry juice
• 3 oz. Pineapple juice
• 1/4 ounce Grenadine

 

I love a Negroni from time to time. Generally if I’m out having a couple it’s a single malt, but every now and then I have to switch it up a bit. It helps that I have a bar that makes a decent Negroni about a 30 second walk away.

 

We are going to try this but damn if I use Stoli. I'll get the cheaper Pinnacle flavored vodka. We already have 4 of the items.

 

We were dumb college kids and I think it went by "Stoli Around the World". Last call back in Tucson, AZ was 1AM back then and we had to figure out how to get people ****ed up and out the door by 1am. Stoli had just come out with the infused flavors and the reps were pushing it hard, bonus for us becasue they left us a few free bottles. It started out as a sip/shot to try this stuff and over the course of several weekends and testing with various mixers, someone (not me) had the brilliant idea to mix all the flavored vodkas together; long story short from there it was a matter of how sweet or sour to make it. The version I like had some 7-up or tonic or club soda in it.

Let me know what you think. It's been a long time (25 years) since I had one but if memory serves me correctly it tasted like fruit punch.

Irish: Bushmills Red
Rye: Bulleit
Specialty Whisky: Slow and Low: Rock-n-Rye
Rum: Diplomatico
Tequila: 1800 Silver

Have not found a gin or vodka that really stands out from the rest.

For pre-mix margaritas I go with Stinky Gringo.

 

You guys ever heard of Frank August bourbon? Just read it won bourbon of the year.

 

My friend, I don't even want to smell Tequila anymore. Some of the worst nights of my life Tekillya was involved. I promised never to even look at it again, no matter the brand, or expense.

That is me with Gin. The damn thing is Gin was the very first thing I ever used to get a buzz. 1/2 pint Gordon's distilled Gin. I was a teen. Since then I have used a ton of things to get a buzz but never drank Gin after that night. I actually bought a bottle, dumped it out and keep it on my dresser.
