There is a story behind both swords. Connor's sword had belonged to his mentor, Ramirez, and he found it after the Kurgan took Ramirez's head. Granted, it is one heck of a coincidence that both men would use a katana, but there were narrative reasons in both cases. Ramirez was very experienced, and that led him to find a well-made blade that had nothing to do with his particular heritage.

No it's the exact same sword, and even earlier they say Connor gave it to him, and then later , they did a episode where they said it was a totally different sword, but it's not , it the same exact sword that Connor carries in the original movie after He gets it from Ramirez (S. Connery).

When did they say that? I re-watched the pilot earlier this year and don't remember any mention of Duncan having Connor's sword. Other than a couple of quick flashbacks, that is all we see of Connor in the show.

It is possible that Duncan used the same prop in the show that Connor used in the movie, but in canon, Duncan does not wield his mentor's sword. Of course, they weren't both using the times they sparred or fought in the series and then in Endgame.

Ok, on the hijack subject: I’ve never watched the series, but curious if Duncan’s story takes place before the movie or if the writers came up with some way to explain how Duncan and others exist after Connor won the prize.

    Plot holes

I only know of the episode that explains that he got it from the Japanese warrior.

If you are rewatching it let me know what episode they say Connor gave it to him.

He says it in the episode with Joan Jett, where she fakes like she is not a old Immortal.

Yeah , I always wonder this, and I believe it was talked about, but back when the series was 1st being shown , I only got to see a episode here, and there, so I'm rewatching now from the beginning, but I was thinking the exact same thing the other night.

To stay on the hijacked subject, I think the mods need to have a priest somehow sanctify the forum servers, to cut down on some of the unruly discussions.

It's when He presents her with the sword he had bought earlier in the episode. He tells her it's the greatest sword ever made, and she says then why don't you use it, and He says because He got his sword from a fellow clans man, and it has served him well. Those aren't word for word, but close, but then because I have watched the series a very long time ago, I remember an episode that goes against this.....so

One of the best SCI FI movies of the 1980's. Good soundtrack too......definitely Queen's best music of the 1980's.

I watched the episode again. Well, I fast-forwarded through parts. You paraphrased the comment well. They screwed that one up. The episode in which he gets the sword in Japan is much better, anyway.

Also what threw me was that in the 1st episode with Connor, and Duncan sparing is when I noticed that Connor wasn't carrying the same blade as He carried in the original movie, and that Duncan was carrying it, and I was like ......when did He give it to him.

I tried watching that again, to, as we were having the discussion. I'm not sure it is the same prop. From what I read online, it is similar, but not the exact sword.

If the sword that Connor uses in the Original movie isn't the same as the one Duncan uses in the series.....it's so freaking close it hard to see the difference, unless I had both in my hands, and let's not forget Duncan said in so many words that Connor gave it to him.
But for sure the sword Connor uses in the original movie is not the sword he uses in the the series when He was sparing with Duncan
