I wouldn’t blame TJ for leaving but where is he realistically going to go? Most of the contenders wouldn’t be able to take on his deal and a lateral move would be pointless.

They are building a solid roster IMO but they’re not going to be contenders this year and they’re probably going to draft a rookie QB again next year so 2026 is a wash as well.

TJ must be looking at the QB situation and wondering if he has wasted his career. He could very easily finish his career without a playoff win.

The cap is derived from the shared revenue across the league, which is comprised of national media deals, league-wide sponsorships and licenses, and about 34% of the ticket sales of each game. Of that amount, 48.8% goes to the players. Divide by 32 and you get each team's base cap allocation for the year.

The local revenue - remaining 66% of the gate, local sponsorships, concessions, parking, all luxury box sales, etc. - is not shared and goes to the owner of the home team for each game.

which he then buys duct tape with to fix the facilities. they could also use it for the upgrade in the day care room. at least they know where those kids are during the game. :smiley1::cool:

He will stay if He wants, and leave if he doesn't. Simple.
I Love the Guy , but He won't be even close to the only great player we had that didn't win a SB.

He has done a lot for the Franchise, but after game 8 he didn’t show up to be honest. Tired at the end of the games on the sideline breathing heavy or injured. Now in defense of him if we had a an offense maybe the defense wouldn’t have to win every game and play the majority of the game. Plus if we had a Head Coach that didn’t have a style of hanging on for a win and going conservative the entire second half maybe things would be different. We need a Franchise QB more than a game changing Defensive end. The style of the league has changed unfortunately our team and head coach have not and this is why we are in the situation that we are.

could it become the sawyer, herbig show down the road? i could see a scenario of us losing him and then getting rid of minkah next year too. about 17 mil. cap savings for minkah at that point with about 114 million in cap space. you cut a couple of more guys like cam and queen and johnston and we could be nearing the 150 million mark.

just spit balling here. porter, warren will need signed. maybe they will be watching castro and thornhill as replacements for minkah and elliott. they could need a QB, corner, OG, safety, WR, OT? thornhill would have to be re-signed. maybe elliott. moon as the main backup at OLB. free agency is a possibility and we have a lot of draft capital. could we be seeing a big shift in personnel by next season?

At some point in a player's life, a ring might mean more than money. But $40M would be tough to walk away from if the Steelers wave it in front of him. Personally, he isn't worth resetting the market for at this point because the Steelers are at least three years away from any kind of championship.

it isn't like that player wouldn't get paid on that team with a better chance to get him that ring.

In week 10 he had a sack in the win vs. Baltimore. In week 12 he sacked Joe Burrow twice and had a strip sack. In week 14 in the loss to the Eagles he sacked Hurts twice and forced a fumble. He led the league in forced fumbles. I generally agree with the rest, but we are not going to be in a situation where we need to pay a franchise QB $50+ million per year until after TJ’s next contract ends unless someone else lets their franchise QB go (really, really unlikely if he’s truly a franchise QB). We will need to draft a franchise QB and he’ll be on a rookie deal for 4-5 years.

we need to draft a QB period to see if he can be that franchise QB. or even see if the one we got this year can become THE guy. 2 QB's on rookie deals is better than 1 on the decline and probably as cheap if not cheaper. forward not back.

On a recent podcast (to many to remember who), they mentioned how quickly contract decisions seem to come up, you post demonstrates this, Another recent thread stated how Omar has reset the roster, in just a year or 2 these guys are up for extension (those they want to keep) and all of that has to be considered when making current extensions, For most fans and the Steeler FO it would seem unlikely a deal for TJ would not/could not be made, but the bottom line is not always as simple as the number. Have no idea what TJ asks or wants, the same from the front office, the money is there, but the structure on giving him that guarantee at 31 will determine the decision.

I don't blame any player for chasing the money. For me it's just a game but for those guys it's their job. The point of a job is to earn money. That's my viewpoint anyway. As a Steelers fan, I will want to beat that player now every single time we play, but no hard feelings over the money part.

with the money he has made already a ring is a big piece of a legacy for a star that started as a FB in college to go on and become one of the best players ever at his position and to be a first ballot HOF player with a super bowl ring. the money has been made and if he does go will still be made. i'm sure he feels like he gave his all to the steelers. they in a way let him down without building a contender around him. sure as fans we want him here. as a player in his last contract, this is where other goals may surface.

Watt really blew an opportunity to win his second DPOY last season, if he made a few more big plays at the end of the season he would've won it IMO. They weren't going to give it to Garrett or Hendrickson so they kind settled for Surtain.

It makes me crazy when players say this, or,"I want to stay here". If you want to stay here, and it's not about the money, take what the team offers, in most cases you will still be a rich man. But of course we know, that it is all about the money. In a vacuum, I understand why teams pay what they do, but on a personal level, the money that is being paid out in football, baseball and basketball disgusts me.

Did he blow it or was he limited by injury? We all saw the injury and in slo motion pretty much everyone in the game day thread was concerned that it looked like a potential season ender. He was very unexplosive after that.

Totally agree, although , I do admit to being a tad bit more hateful if they sign to a in division team.

Injured or not he just needed to make a few more splash plays at the end, was he on the weekly injured list I don't remember if he was.
